• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just go off the phone with the dealer , I was advise today he got the bulletin from BRP bout the recall and he has 2 dozen recall kits on order.

I was also inform can am owners that fall under the recall can take there unit to any authorize can dealer to get the recall done.

Well..!!

Just call ahead and make sure they have the parts and the time to do it. Seems they would have released the recall to the dealers with the kits to preform the work. We all know how the "on order" thing works..I am from one of those "manana" countries...:roflblack:

Just got off the phone with my dealer, they are waiting for the parts to come in. I'm first on the list when they do get here.

Just got word bout the time frame , As per the dealer in New Jersey recall parts on order and estimated by the 9/15/13 they should start accepting units to repair. Sad news thou since i called and gave the dealer my vin # the dealer has now formerly advise me to stop using the unit. Figure if i am one of the first units in , then i will get the unit back in a timely fashion since there is still lots of good days left to ride.

I was planning on taking a spin later today , Dam . lol.
Well better safe then Burnt up .

Since i owned a medical supply company i might just jump on my biggest off road four wheel scooter. lol.

Just talked with my dealer in Coeur D' Alene, Idaho, and we have the recall and parts are being ordered. I checked mine the other day and looks like no problem around M/C. Bike goes in the 12th. Thanks for the heads up on this, gave my dealer a one up on parts. He said thanks to SL for the info.:)

Be Sure to Call Ahead

Just off the phone with my dealer. He advised that they were ordering kits by VIN for customers that contact them, plus kits for all of their bikes in stock. I am third in line. Assume kits may also be slightly different for each model. So, suggest you contact your dealer and get on the list for a replacement kit and installation appointment. This way you are not in line for "an extra kit" that might or might not be available when you go in for service, and you are not assuming that your dealer will contact you in a timely manner. Dealer indicated that a number of shields/parts were included as part of the service, more than just a shield for the master cylinder. Waiting on a call back for when parts will be available from BRP.

Glad to hear that this is finally progressing. Hope everyone can be patient until the recall "parts" arrive at the dealer, and then the dealers making the time to do the repairs in a timely manner.

Fingers crossed and hopes high for all involved.

Description of the recall kit

Bob, as soon as it becomes available, Spyderlovers should get a complete description of what the recall fixes.

Parts taller heat shield and new bracket as per service dept at dealer

From my understanding when i as service dept , they mention tall heat shield and bracket. The heat shield that is on the exhaust now , they saying its too short.

Our dealer has the parts already and processed two spyders today already.. The recall memo and repair instructions are 17 pages long so the service manager told me each repair will take awhile...

I already had a 17 Sep appointment for another issue. I called the dealer this afternoon and they said they would do the recall work at that time . . . they said nothing about not riding . . . which is good, since they are an hour away . . . too far to push it!

Same Thing

Just spoke with my dealer. 45 kits are on order. He said that there has been no "stop ryding" order from BRP, and that if there was a real problem with ryding, they would have issued such an order, and we would have been notified by certified mail. So take that for what it's worth. I will attempt to pull the Tupperware tonight to make sure that we don't already have a problem. Which reminds me, Lamont posted a video on how to pull the plastic on a RT can one of you fine folks point me the direction of that post.

It would appear from everything we have read on SpyderLovers the only thing this recall addresses is the potential melting master cylinder cap. I've not read about any other problems this recall encompasses.

This is not a hijacked thread

They need to come up with a fix for that empty hole in your garage's parking area! :D

Bob, I agree 100%. My wife knows how bad I want a Spyder. We talk about it a lot. The problems with the 2013's have not helped my case, so to speak.
I could buy one tomorrow, but my better half just thinks it's too much money. I've thought about buying a basic used RS, but that's not really what I want. I like the feel of the ST. I'm too old and arthritic to ride an RS. I know many people have modified their RS's into decent touring machines. An RT is great, but to be honest the ST ergos are more comfortable to me. I'd be perfectly happy with a black ST-SE5. I search Cycletrader just about every day. There some good deals to be had. Oh well, I enjoy being an annoying wannabe. I hope I can contribute something useful to this forum. I respect the general civility of this forum and I respect Lamont.

Think about it? A 2012 RT is only 70 Pounds heavier than a 2013 ST, has more storage, very dependable. There are some great deals on Leftover 2012 RT,s that don,t have heat issues. My 2012 RT is cooler in 95 degree heat with 70 degree dew point than my 09 GS???nojoke

I find it amazing that some of your dealers on here actually tell you things are going on!

God knows no dealers around here will squeak a word about issues going on! They want to sell sell sell.....

I would love to see pics of the new heat shield and what ever else BRP has for the recall
