There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. watched it on TV .. never ever seen a such a good show -(I mean the technical equipment ..)

But : it seems that "in times like this" here in Europe - many thousands of young people without a job or a future - have other ideas what could be done with this money ..

lets hope that the "fireworks" do not reach the streets..

Sparks,
Question: Are British citizens still referred to as "subjects", or has that term kind of "left the building" by now? :dontknow:

I'm a Brit living in the USA, I'm still a big royalist. The Monarchy does lot for the country that is not first seen or understood.

America is my home and I love it here, miss family and friends more than England.

I'm English too, and bloody proud of it.
As far as the "excessive" expense of the fireworks being better used to feed the poor, how about directing the same vitriol against the money spent during a Presidential campaign.

I know we are not supposed to talk about such things; but, I thought there was supposed to be a cap on that?

:agree: There should a limit for everyone to keep the playing field even.

So; What'd you all think???

I actually learned two things that I did not know...
1. Rowan Atkinson is a very talented musician
2. The Queen is a Bond Girl; and a very lovely one at that!

I read everyones take and here is my view on the op ?

Really liked the opening ceremonies, :cheers:The James Bond / Queen sketch was awesome. Had some friends over the next night and we played that segment for them that we had recorded. Gotta love the British sense of humor :D

I really think All the volunteers for the ceremony went a 100%, every TV angle portrayed there intent on recreating the directors visual illustration of history with the industrial revolution, women's suffrage, etc. The expressions were on the mark, and it was visually stunning. Knowing this was the opening ceremonies performed on a special occasion I was thrilled with the firework display. Even the people who built the stadium were invited back, what a thrill. England has got to be proud

Thought they went by the athletes walking in too fast but with so many countries I suppose it is probably difficult to please everyone. Would be great to have the choice at your finger tips as to what camera views to watch.

I'm a little late getting into this thread, but if you google Olympic Charities, there is a very long list of the good that the Olympics do, not just for Great Britain, but the rest of the world. Also, host nations strive to show a profit from the Olympics, not only from ticket sales, but from the boost that the local economy gets from spectators. In this regard, it's not the Olympics that's paying for the show, but the punters that buy the tickets. The Olympics is a showcase for the athletes, but it's also a business.

Anyway, not to stray too far from the original topic, I did enjoy the opening ceremonies (I have a vested interest and bias, as I am still a loyal subject) and agree that the parade is boring.

Re: The Parade...
Maybe it would have been better if they had put all of the athletes in those little "Clown cars"??? :dontknow: :roflblack:
A Clown Car demolition derby at the opening of the Olympics in 2016??? :2thumbs:
