The official Can-Am Answer to the Premier Edition dilemma

Not only is my number over 3500 but they have already delivered bikes to customers who just ordered bikes last month. I paid for a premier edition bike of which the number on the handle bar was to indicate one of 2500.. Not even close. I think this is fraud pure and simple. They have spent millions all over the world promoting this bike and it seems like they could give a :edit: less about the people that were dumb enough to put money down up to a year in advance. Sorry we took your money but can't count, "live with it" just don't cut it with me. We are more than glad to use your money to party on, all over the countryside selling our new product with your deposit money. I have owned and operated my own business for 18 years and to think someone would run a company like this after taking money from people and making a promise and not making sure that their word is good, makes me sick. Then to only respond to any of this, only after people started asking questions on line. Sounds to me like backtracking. It's a good thing Jay Leno got the first one, because I don't think Can Am could of gotten it right had it been any other number. I can't believe Can Am does not have a computer system that was not set up to count the premier edition 2500 in North America. I would like to see Can Am authenticate that only 2500 Premier Edition's were sold in North America. I have already asked my dealer to do that, thay said they called Can Am and have gotten zero response from them, Hard to believe that since they were so on top of things to begin with.
And if Jay Leno reads this contact me, I would like to see an authentic Premier Edition bike. I would be more than willing to go on your show with a Can Am rep. and talk about this issue...

This is too volatile a topic for the Leno show. It's more worthy of CNN or CNBC.

As the owner of Premier Edition 3783, I understand what you are saying. I think BRP would have been better off linking a Premier Edition number with the order in which the customers deposit was received and not with VIN numbers. That way, my Spyder with the VIN ending with 3783 could still be Premier Edition 1783 or 1256 or whatever number I fell into the group with my deposit date. Some number between 1 and 2586. By using the VIN number and then building demo bikes and mistakingly shipping some Premier Editions overseas, they have upset a few people.

Posting on a 12 year old thread. I feel like I"m poking a dead horse. Anyways...

I just got my 2008 Spyder GS SE5 on Monday and just now looking at the photos I took earlier today (Wednesday), I noticed the marking on the handle bars. I got Premiere Edition 3478!
So based on the initial post, I'm guessing this was a demo unit. But it's still pretty cool. Like owning a piece of history.

Are these Premiere editions worth more?

The short answer, NO. The only one that MAY be worth more is Jay Leno's #1...at least that what BRP said his number was.

I had a Premier Edition 2010 RT # 474. It came with a stitched seat with the # on it. When I traded off on a 2014, the dealer laughed at me when I asked it the PE was worth more.

There has been an ongoing joke about the 08 Premiers. "I have #5,434 out of 2,500." Enjoy your 2008 GS. It was/is a very good machine. I got the first 2008 GS sold in Alaska to a customer, and it arrived there in June of 2008. I put 22,500 miles on it in two years, (and that is pretty good for AK, with a less than 6 month riding season). Traded off for a 2010 RT-S premier.

Thanks for resurrecting this older thread. Great reading. It even predates me on SL. I came on in Feb 2010.
