• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I just got off the Spyderryder site and Marc LaCroix of BRP had put this explanation and announcement up regarding Premier Edition Spyders.

PREMIERE EDITION SPYDER CLARIFICATION - APRIL 9, 2008

With the recent flurry of comments online and particularly on Can-AmTalk.com, we wanted to address the issues raised in the last few days. With the launch of Spyder, we're very proud of what we have created, including the Premiere Edition program but we've also made some mistakes and we want to clear the air.
We're just as excited about the open exchange of information as you are. We're very happy to see this level of exchange between Spyder owners and enthusiasts. Keep it coming! Even amid a few "conspiracy theories" out there, we actually enjoy reading the comments as the Spyder community grows!
Regarding the Premiere Edition Spyder roadsters, we want to acknowledge that we made a mistake on the numbering sequence and we want to apologize. The information we provided two weeks ago was wrong and we are sorry.
Now, let's set the record straight.
When we first began taking Premiere Edition pre-orders in February of 2007, our goal was to create an exclusive club for the first 2,500 North American Spyder roadster owners. This remains true today.
There are exactly 2,589 Premiere Edition Spyder owners in North America.
From this, we created the 2.5K owners program and provided the 2.5K owners map. Yes, we rounded down to 2,500!
We were pleasantly surprised to learn that some people actually took the time to count the names on the map and came up with 2,532! The difference with 2,589 is strictly a timing issue between the printing of the map and the actual final number in our system. Our intent was to promote the symbolic 2.5K number.
Furthermore, the confusion resides in the numbering sequence and we apologize for this, but want to further explain exactly what has happened.
As previously discussed on SpyderRyder.com, the two main reasons for the Premiere Edition Spyder sequence numbers exceeding #2,589 are the dealer demo units and the Try Spyder Tour units. In fact, I mentioned the final sequence number of Premiere Edition units should be at #3,306 in a recent Can-AmTalk forum. These 800 dealer/tour units were taken from the same sequence as the Premiere Edition vehicles to ensure that dealers and tour staff had display and demo units quickly for training and marketing purposes.
I also want to bring it to your attention that we recently discovered a mistake with the Premiere Edition numbering sequence. Contrary to the information that we had received, it turns out that we did include approximately 550 international/overseas units in the production line sequence for Premiere Edition vehicles. The original intent was to start a new numbering sequence for international/overseas units. Unfortunately, this did not occur and we are sorry.

With the addition of the 550 international/overseas units and the 800 or so dealer demo and tour units, it puts the final sequence number of Premiere Edition Spyder roadsters at 3,856. We apologize for the confusion, but want to assure you, as our most valued Spyder customers, there are only 2,589 Premiere Edition Spyder first owners in North America.
Again, we apologize for the confusion regarding the quantities of Premiere Edition Spyder roadsters.
Please e-mail [email protected] with any questions – our goal is to keep you informed and be a resource for all of your Spyder questions.
Sincerely,
Marc R. Lacroix
Can-Am Spyder Marketing Director

Huh.

So I guess my next question of Marc Lacroix would be, "Do I, along with my #2929, live in North America?"

Perhaps Massachusetts is now in Belgium? I have been away for a few days... ::) :dontknow:

From what he said, I guess your #2929 is NOT a "Priemere Edition" of the Spyder in North America. I would be steaming if it were me, but then again.....at least you have yours!

Sure it is.

Direct quote from Marc Lacroix: "With the addition of the 550 international/overseas units and the 800 or so dealer demo and tour units, it puts the final sequence number of Premiere Edition Spyder roadsters at 3,856."

Maybe it's a grammar thing, Bruce and Derwin. Hey, Mr. Lacroix speaks French and English, and I can't make that claim! ;D

When he says "there are only 2,589 Premiere Edition Spyder first owners in North America..." it seems a bit contradictory.

He said there are 2589 Premier Edition owners and the numbers are not sequential, but any Spyder number from 0001-3856 is a Premier Edition. 550 of those were mistakenly sent overseas and 800+/- are demo and tour Spyders. Because they chose to follow VIN numbers for Premier Edition numbers, that means that you may have been the 2500th customer but the number you are getting is 3000 because 500 of them before you were sent to demo or overseas. Does that help?

LOL! ;D

Dltang, that helps just like the old Abbot and Costello routine "Who's on First?" helped me understand the sport of baseball!

(Hey, it's not your fault! I just like math that, you know, makes sense!) :joke:

Hey Silver 2929
I can't wait to get my Spyder its silver like your's. I have 54 days and a wake up to go.
When its finally here I am going to tell everyone its here and how terrible my number is !!!!!
Its my way of making those still waiting to shake their head and LOL

Oooooh! Someone got fiiiiiirrrred for thhhhhaaaat!

Numbering mistake? they make this incredible machine with years and years of knowledge and design and they cant count to 2500? :dontknow: Besides that I was wondering about the demo units if they were numbered. If you take out those 800 or so demo units Then acctually premier owners would be those who own and paid for a real :spyder: 3300 and under. I am no math major but if I have numbered demo units that werent purchased they were given as demo bikes (that BRP ate the bill for promotional purposes) by north american owners than that would mean those who purchased them are numbered up to 3300 and are the true owners of the premier edition. O and include the overseas 500 so now you have 3800 true, premier, bought, and paid for spyder owners! All this equals is Give me my JACKET! ha

What happend to all the jackets for the 800 demo bikes? Ebay?

You forgot the 550 units shipped overseas, that will put you up to 3850 and of course they had some + or -. The jackets did not go to demo units, only to the 2589 who put down the deposit before Sept 15th.

Also, Little John, the new dealers that are getting demos are not getting the Premier Edition ones. There is a new dealer here in Michigan that we visited Sunday and his demo does not have a plaque either. I do believe all Premier Editions are either delivered, at dealers or en route to the dealers for delivery. Everything being produced now, is non-premier edition.

My brother and I just test road a Spyder in Wilmingtion, Illinois, and it DID have a PE plaque on it. I forgot what number it was, but I know for sure it was a demo because the dealer told us to be careful on it since it was owned by CanAm. So who know what is really going on!

Does it really matter whether it is Premier Edition?
We got a great ride and a free coat, that we never wear.
The main thing is that we have a cool ride.

Had my first service done today, dealer had #1902 sitting outside with a sold sign on it, asked whose it was and invite them to ride and visit spyderlovers.com then the salesman told me it was a second-party sales agrrement. #1902 is going to Colombia (yep, South America Colombia). Wondering how many PE's have gone that way? :spyder:
