• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The New Brake Pads

You guys/gals who had them replaced under warranty, I'm jealous...I had my bike in for service and they removed and 'treated' them. They squeak less but they're not the new and improved brake pads...drats! They see its a service bulletin but it's not a mandatory thing to replace and they didn't offer to do so...even when I asked for them to change them out, they said they couldn't, saying it wasn't a recall issue...

Argh!

:banghead:
Time for a new dealer

I am not saying any names but a very loud birdie at BRP but works here in the US stated the below.
If the pads are worn, they will not be replaced under warrenty. If they are not worn, they can be replaced for free under warrenty with labor. Now, it is up to the dealer to state if they are worn or not and then they go to BRP "not in the trash" to be further inspected to find out if they will pay the dealership for the work which is why most dealers are just telling customers, it is not under warrenty. If your dealer contacts BRP directly, they will be told the same thing. I am taking my pads to my dealer this week to be reviewed. My biggest question, are these dealers really qualified to look at them. I was told 2 months ago to replace mine, I finally did on my own dime and time and they have just as much thickness as the new bads. It is up to your dealer but in the long run, I can bet if you push hard enough for them to call BRP and spend the time to work on the problems, anyone under 10K should get them for free as there are very few that use thier brakes harder than me..lol. Just ask Doc..lol. If you replace them yourself, don't expect to get labor out of it but do expect to get reimbursed for your pads or at least the front as the back does seem to wear a bit more than the front. Guess I should cool it on the twisties.

My brakes currently do not squeal, however my dealership said that the new pads and labor to install them will be covered under warranty. I have around 3,400 on my odometer.

Should I have them replaced or leave well enough alone? I have heard some people say they are squealing more with the new pads than with the old ones!

Just my two copper Lincolns, but why fix it if it isn't broken? I, too, am satisfied. When there is noise, a couple of hard stops takes care of it. I also heard the new pads were a bit softer. Won't last as long and have slightly less emergency stopping power, if that's the case.

Good points...my brakes are very responsive...just a little squeaky...I tried the fast accel. and braking...might have helped a little...did hear a 'pop' below the dash but nothing looks awry...steering fine...I really slammed the brakes at about 45 mph...probably my body weight flying over the handlebars...eh, uh, I mean coming forward and putting pressure on the handlebars, probably did something...no changes in control or anything obvious though...odd...this bike can stop really, really fast though!

Scotty, so you're saying to slam them a few times and that will clean off impurities and make them work better? If that works, I'm nominating you for spyderlovers.com technical and mechanical specialist!!...

I second that motion :2thumbs: Took mine to the dealer last week - sqealing breaks is one of things I wanted them to check - will be interesting to see what the outcome will be - think I'll give them a call tomorrow. :spyder::spyder:
