• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

the home coming, where you stayed, and canada

so just curious people. what was your overall feeling of the home coming, also how was the security at the hotels where you stayed, any problems with the bikes being broken into. and what did you have to use to get into and out of Canada. did you all need pass ports. and did your bike insurance cover you when you were up there. ( good question for bob ) my insurance company, GEICO, once asked me if i ever planed to travel to Canada. i have no clue why they wanted to know. i told them yes at the time, and they just said ok.

We stayed in Sherbrooke and I didn't hear of anyone having issues in the parking lots. You need a passport or special drivers license issued by one of the border states to enter Canada. We crossed in New Brunswick and there was one lane open so it took about 20 minutes to get through the line. I requested a Canadian insurance card before I left home.

We we had a great time despite the weather and it was great to see so many friends here.
 
We stayed at the Comfort Inn in Sherbrooke and were very pleased with the hotel itself, the parking was secure, the staff friendly and helpful. I didn't hear of any problems. To cross the border we needed passports, and had to tell them where we were from and where we were going and for how long, and they asked lots of questions about if we were carrying weapons, alcohol, what was in our trailer etc. Thats all. No problems at all. We did have Canada cards from our insurance company showing that the Spyder, truck and trailer were all insured.
Same goes for crossing back into Vermont.

The weather sure could've been better, but otherwise, can't complain.
 
Where we stayed for Homecoming

We stayed near Mt. Orford just outside Magog. No problems, nice place. There were 3 other Spyders in the parking lot.
This morning went out to the bike and there was a gift package on the dash from Providence Spyder Accessories and
I saw one on one of the other Spyder. There must of been a Spyder Fairy running around last night.

so i am guessing that i would have to ask my insurance company for a card proving i am covered in canada in order to go visit friends up there. thanks people
 
We stayed at the Comfort Inn, in Drummondville. They had security and I did not hear of any issues. Crossing the Border was a piece of cake. They asked us 2 questions and sent on us on our way. The Mingies swarming around us could have been the reason so few questions were asked. Also we crossed at not so busy crossing. Hotel is good. Local eateries was plentiful. Motel right off the highway, gas station next door. You could wash your Spyders at 2 locations at the motel. We had a great time. Bruce

The Canadian insurance cards are no longer a necessity... nojoke
Most New York State Insurers quit issuing them about 10 years ago.
 
We stayed at the Comfort Suites in Drummondville. Hotel was good, staff was great. As mentioned before, they has supplies for everyone to wash their bikes.
Also, I have to say that most people spoke French to you, but once you spoke back in English they switched. No problem with the language.
 
HOMECOMING

Entering Canada , a couple of questions very pleasant , took 10 minutes including the wait in line .... Stayed at the Hotel Drummond, you can guess where :roflblack: ....a smaller place and parking was a bit tight .... a big plus was the location only 1 km from the Sat Dinner at the Expo which was first rate ( imho ) considering they served about 3500 people. It was HUGH inside , almost the size of a football field. Found a lot of old friends, AND couldn't find a lot of other old friends ...... I did try - really I did :opps: ....... The weather was better than Spyderfest , but not by much ...... but I spent a lot of times in-doors in Valcour at BRP .... what an amazing place .... I'm glad I went for that alone .... the BIG June 2 UN-VAILING was IMHO a BUST ..... PAINT :dontknow: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: ..... HE** I can buy PAINT .... The folks in engineering thought the things I've done ( the ones I showed them ) were interesting .... we spent about 1/2 hr. discussing them.... Coming home weather was fabulous , border took 2 minutes total....... Annnnnnnnnnnd I brought home some of their ( Canadian ) Spare rib sauce ....:yes::yes::yes:.....this stuff is to DIE FOR .... I haven't had any for 25 years, I was surprised they were still selling the same stuff :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:................ Mike :thumbup:
 
Crossing the border was easy. Both ways. Usual questions. Stayed at the Comfort Inn Drummondville. An older motel with a VERY small breakfast area. People hung out BSing while others stood around hoping they would get up to let others sit. Luckily when Ali came in with her cane someone would let her sit. The staff was very friendly. Restaurants all over the place. Gas next door. Great "poutine" at the restaurant next door. Their highways are in much better condition than at home. BRP had a well run event. And the Dinner was awesome! A sit down affair with live music. The store had deals ranging from ok to awesome. Factory tour was great. They now do laser alignment on all Spyders. :thumbup: Tom :spyder:

Bob, a question, if you happen to know: What about CT Insurers? Do we here in CT need to get Canadian insurance cards in order to ride to Canada? We have friends from Canada that we have met at SpyderQuest in Lake George several times, and we would like to ride up and visit them in Ottowa. Missus & I both have passports & the Federal Mandated "Real ID". Guess that means we actually exist.

But if you call your Broker: they sure would be! :thumbup:

Hi we have Allstate and when I asked my agent we we told we where ok with the cards issued already nothing else was needed .
