• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Good Old Snowmobiling Days

One of my College "Partners in Crime" was pitching out old stuff that had outlived any Gubernatorial chances of reprieve, when he came across some shots taken back in the days when you parked your sled up on the porch while at hunting camp for a New Year's Eve Party...
We've got a 1980 Arctic Cat Jag 2000, a 1976 Scorpion Range Whip 400, and a 1973 Skiroule RTW in these shots...
As well as some un-named punks on the porch with rifles and beer!IMAG0007.jpgIMAG0008.jpgIMAG0010.jpg

One of those punks with a rifle and beer wouldnt be you now would it???? Looks like a good time...Only differance now is the sleds cost more..:roflblack:

I miss 60's/70's when we would have enough snow to ride all winter, Many a time we would bring the Cats
in the Cabin when we had to repair them, It's a lot warmer working on them that way. I still have a Polaris SS 440, Haven't use it in 8 years Not enough snow to warrant dragging out and getting it running for one or two weekends . Besides i enjoy riding the SIDE-BY more than the sled' Getting oil i guess. :dontknow:

I was the idiot behind the camera for that shot...
We DID put some front axle bearings in a Polaris 500 in a hotel room up in Rangely, Maine back in 1991...

We used to work on our motorcycles in the barracks rooms, until the first shirt conduted a no notice inspection. :lecturef_smilie: :gaah: :opps:
Lost two weekends to extra duty.

I used to ride in Maine quite a lot. Anyone ever been to a little watering hole near Patten ME called the Shin Pond Pub???

Oh the stories those walls hold...but I wouldnt know anything about that..;)

I first had a 1971 Autoski (yes, an Autoski). Back then there were all kinds of oddball snowmobile manufacturers. It cost $650 new. It looked like this:

I had more fun with that piece of crap than many of my $$$$$ toys I would later own. I suppose it helped being a teenager.

I was just sent some more of these photos...
Hey Roger! Do you notice the family resmblance? This one had the 634cc Hirth in it. The only snowmobile that I ever crashed while going in a straight line down a trail at a reasonable speed... I got into some Whoop-de-doos and it got to tank slappin' and pitched me... IMAG0021.jpg
Here's one from the same camp back during an earlier time up at our camp... IMAG0013.jpg A pair of 1971 Oly 300s, a 1970 Oly 335, and a 'Cat that I don't remember... Maybe my Dad's '69 Panther with the 399 Kohler in it...
More later when I get done figuring out what I've been sent.

Yup!
And you COULD fit a 1979 Scorpion "Lil Whip in the back of a Wagoneer if your folks didn't find out where their Jeep went! :opps:
IMAG0027.jpg

Here's a beauty! IMAG0012.jpg A '79 Scorpion Sting 440, a '73 Rupp American 340, a VICIOUS '75 Polaris TX 440, and a '76 Scorpion Range Whip 400 (With the rare RED Hood...most were an ugly sky blue)
The TX was originally used for drag-racing... we got it and softened up the clutches for trail use. My Sting could obliterate it up to about 65 mph. But once it got up a head of steam, it was like getting rear-ended by a freight train! It'd blur the speedo needle as it pinned it up against the stops... :yikes:
And it got about 5mpg!

Great pics Bob. I put a lot of miles on a 1 lung Oly that was old when I got to abuse it.
Also had a 74? JDX4 twin that weighed more than a tank..I was not the one to break trails
with that sled.

Had a 9500 Blizzard...That thing scared the H*ll out of me more than once....

The first sled I ever rode on was a 440 snow jet. The first sled that was ever "mine" was a 1984 Ski-doo formula mx. Yellow of course.
