There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi, I just rearead your other threads about the problems you are having. Did you buy the 2008 new or did you recently purchase it? How many miles are on it? I see where you just had the recalls done that came out in 2010 so obviously the Spyder hasn't been serviced in a really long time. If it hasn't been ridden in that same amount of time it could have issues just from sitting for so long. Or if it has been ridden a lot and hasn't been serviced that isn't good either.
I would recommend that you keep all of your questions in one thread so that people can easily follow what you have going on. You will get more responses that way. Good luck and I hope you don't have to shell out $1700 +

It is a 2008 and they just did the old recalls on it. DPS, evap canister line, etc.
2008 gs, we bought it a year ago with 5500 miles on it from one owner. We ran it last year with no issues, was honestly getting ready to wash and wax it for riding this year and all &$)( broke loose. Limp home fault with abs fault, ebd fault and abs fault showed up. Took it to the shop and they said it had 3 recalls on it. 1 for dps, 1 for master cylinder for brakes and 1 for emission canister hose. Called today and said it didn't fix limp home mode and replacement part was $1700.00
I would thoroughly check the battery and related bits. If it's the original battery, it's probably lived out its useful life. A subpar battery, loose or corroded terminals, etc can wreak havoc on the wide assortment of computers, modules, and sensors. The DPS is the single greatest source of current draw (except probably the starter) and if the old dps wasn't working/drawing current (mine wasn't before it was replaced) then this new and significant power draw could have been the last straw. A new battery is a whole ton cheaper than 1700 bux and it will probably need to be replaced soon anyway due to its age, if of course it's the original one. That's my three or four cents anyway.

VCM controls the brakes in the event the vehicle becomes unbalanced (the nanny) and a few other tasks. You should have had some brake related codes possibly the ECM etc. It does in fact cost $1,696.00 and a good reason to be sure. How good is your dealer and their tech staff..?? If you do ok the work make sure that if this does not fix the problem they don't charge you for any of it...:lecturef_smilie:

Ok we decided to go get the spyder and weigh out our options. I start it up and no fault codes showed, I pull out on the highway and no limp home modes either but check dps keeps flashing across the screen. No problems driving it I was able to get up the 74 mph too

I would at least clean the battery connections and have the battery checked. Make sure all the relays are seated too. Start there and make sure it is kept on a battery tender.

It sure wouldn't take much time to check the battery out; before making any decisions about the bike... :shocked:

I have been there and they seem like nice people but I don't know anything about their service dept. I don't know how far you are from Lynchburg VA but I do
know Lynchburg Kawasaki has an excellent service dept. I brought my first Spyder from them 5-10 and they have did all of my service work since. I wouldn't
hesitate to take any problem to them as they have always performed all work in a professional manner and have also been honest and fair in all of our
dealings.

As mentioned above, check the battery. If its original, its way beyond replacement time. A bad battery or connections can give wonky input and cause error messages on your screen.
Hopefully you don't have to spend $1,700 to fix. A second opinion might be a good idea also.
