• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The gate worked, a little late

This happened in Salt Lake City. We have been having such cold temperatures and so much snow and ice that apparently the trip switches got stuck. Luckily no one was injured other then some minor cuts and scratches. If you watch closely you will notice that not only don't the gates work but the lights aren't flashing either. Very luck day for all involved.

:yikes: I saw that on the news... I guess that snow and ice prevented it from doing it's thing. :dontknow:
:lecturef_smilie:This is just another good reason to keep your head on a swivel at any and ALL intersections! nojoke

EDIT: We must have been grinding away at our keyboards at the same time... but you're a quicker typist!

Well at least

nol one will run into the accident the gates didn't prevent. :) Glad no one was hurt.

Very lucky there were no serious injuries.

Not sure about there regulations, but when I drove truck, we were required by law to stop before the tracks, look both ways, before proceeding thru the crossing. Couldn't shift gears while in the crossing, because if something malfunctioned in the transmission during the shift, you could potentially be stuck over the tracks.

Impossible to tell how far he could see down the tracks, but makes me wonder if he put too much faith in the safty system, and didn't follow regulations... :dontknow:

Edit: it's been a while since I drove trucks, but the RR regulation may have been for hazmat only..

The police car where the video was being recorded from stopped short before the truck was hit. Maybe they saw or heard what was about to happen? After the train collision, the police car was pulled forward.

I would say they were sent to investigate reports of a non-functioning RR crossing. They arrived just a bit too late!
