• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

hmm..let's see..around 7000 [email protected](with passenger and loaded trailer) thats 350 gallons X 4.30 = around $1500.00

If things get much worse gas price wise, this fixed income couple might not be going to Lamont's/Maggie Valley after all.:(

Are fuel prices deterring anyone else from their riding destinations??

We can get regular with our Freddy Meyers discount for about $3.85. Unfortunately, we moved last weekend and now have to pay around 4.05-4.09 (87 octane price)
 
You have to get your priorities straight. Turn off your power at home, don't eat, turn off telephone service, sell other forms of transportation and house if necessary. Any of these will allow you to fully enjoy your Spyder riding to the fullest.:2thumbs: Live free....Ryde free:doorag:
 
I just went from a CAr and a Spyder to a Spyder only.... The insurance savings and car payments will pay for a lot of gas..

But that just means the Spyder gets more use than the 2010 F150 4x4 Super Crew Lariat will :ohyea:

And to answer your question. Nope... The gas prices are such a rip off I can hardly stand it and not get political about it.

We plan to go to the Redwoods Rally and hope the prices do not go much farther. Even if they do we will still go, but will likely drive less. :opps:

I am still set on Lamont's BBQ/Maggie Valley, as well as a cross country trip from SC to AZ in late Sept., but am cutting back on my joy ryding now. Not taking as many 100+mile trips just to enjoy the :f_spider:.

Since the :spyder:gets better mileage than my WRX Sportwagon, plus the fact it takes regular over premium, I'm still ryding quite a bit.:doorag:

Really? It really makes that much more of a difference? Figure gas was 3.00/gallon...you're talking 6.00 more for a whole tank at 4.00/gallon...does that really deter you from riding? And with that, it's at least 150 miles of pleasure. Just don't buy a few lattes per month...

I don't look at the prices when on the Spyder because the tank is so darn small anyway...now, in my minivan, that's a different story.

7000 miles @ 20mpg = 350 gallons @ $3.00 = $1050 /yr.

That's $455/yr more. Not insignificant but it's not like another car payment either.

However look at it another way.

To make up the extra $455 spent you have to use 106 less gallons of fuel at $4.30. Which means you ride 2120 miles less!

That's quite a bit.

This is all assuming 20mpg. Another option is to improve mileage. Ride slower, smaller windshield, less cargo, less trailer usage... should be able to get another 4-5mpg.

A 4mpg improvement means you'd use 292 gallons instead of 350. At $4.30/gal thats $1256 in gas instead of $1505! Still more than at $3/gal but it's been a while since we saw that...

Now if you can get your mileage up to 28 mpg, even at $4.30 a gallon you can ride 6837 miles on that same $1050 per year... and only cut out 163 miles a year :)

Get a tuneup... throttle less, cruise more, carry less, feel more wind, don't worry, be happy!

Or something like that.

It's bad here in BC, too. Plus our local twit provincial government recently added a Carbon Tax to each liter to "protect the environment" (scoop more taxes). Needless to say, I always fuel up in Washington state, every chance I get. None of this will stop me from ryding, though.

Hi it is $1.50 a liter here in Australia to. we have two :spyder2: s on a trip it gets expensive, but we love traveling so we just work harder during the week.

One of the most goofball questions I get asked about the spyder is "Whats the gas mileage like?" I didn't buy it because of gas mileage. Gas mileage is the last thing on my mind when I am out riding.

Yeah, for me it makes a difference. The lattes were gone a LONG time ago. My margins are pretty tight and I am cutting back now so I can make my big trips later. I fill up my :spyder: about 7 times a month. I get to ryde it approx 35 miles every time I ryde it to work. When I bought it it cost $12 -$14 to fill it. now it's $17-$20- and gas is cheap here, relatively speaking. Besides, On average, I am still ryding about over 1300 miles a month, so a few less trips aren't too painful:doorag:
 
Gas is now running $4.11 - $4.13 per gal. in Anchorage area--add 20 cents per gallon for 91 octane. I am still feeling like we will have $5.00 a gal by Memorial day. No one is saying anything about the increases other than the supposed quote from the president: "You'll just have to get used to higher gas prices".

Its amazing what this guy gets away with.....When it hit 3.40 with bush it was because he was for big oil....now...we are told to live with it! :cus: him!

20 mpg? I have a GS/RS and get about 30...how are you only getting 20? You're better off with an economic car. Any vehicle getting 20 mpg isn't going to do well, regardless of what it is...
