The dreaded right foot french frier

It just won't work on the 13's Bob. Your right foot is slap dab where the lower black hole of heat is. The toes on your right foot would be on the chrome exhaust pipe.

It would depend on the shape of what was used as an hot air duct. This isn't engine exhaust, so doesn't need to be as substantial as an exhaust pipe. I really think a heavy sheet metal duct could be fabricated by someone with the talent to do so, that would channel all that air coming off the radiator down below the 2013 floorboard. It would not have to be round . . . flatter and wider would work, so long as sufficient airflow was achieved. A powerful fan in the duct, could also work . . . just something to throw that heat down, rather that straight at your foot.

Jeff, our roomy at this years SpyderFest in Springfield had done a mod similar to whats been discussed here & did a small post about it with little attention, and I hope he doesn't mind me bringing it back to life :lecturef_smilie:

But he did mod his Block-Off Plate using a type of downspout & when I asked him about it at SpyderFest, he said it worked rather well:thumbup:

Jeff, I hope you don't mind me posting this, and I hope you don't get unwanted attention from ppl filling your PM box with questions, but I think it may be a piece in the puzzle to help with the issue at hand

I'm just the messenger & know only what he wrote about it in his post, so besides him telling me that it worked rather well for him, there is little other info I can add here.

I remounted my Blocking plate, this morning and rode down to the VA to help some of the vets figure how to access their health records, and, again had no issues, ambient temp was about 100-103, however, I didn't have to sit for very long, so the object seems to be keep on movin' on.
I'd been going through some of my emails, but kept being drawn back to this thread, and this work-around.
I waited til it was too dark to look closer, and may be out of my element, but back in the old days some folks would put a turbocharger on their hood, or at least a want to be on the hood of their street machine, isn't the openings we are discussing a direct connection, ie the same hole with a body part to hold the tupperware on? I've never done a lot of sheet metal work, but couldn't we put a "vertical" "hood-scoop," directing the outside cooler air through that compartment, on the leading edge of the top "black hole" and a horizontal hood scoop on the lower edge of another cover (\_____/) creating a "venturi" effect with the tupperware scoop redirecting from the forced air coming from the upper blocker air scoop. I am probably over-engineering in my mind, but with extra air circulating, and driving away from our lower "black hole" enemy, we may be able to defeat our common enemy, french fried feet, the scoops probably would not need to be very tall, or wide, depending on the upper or lower. Again, I'm looking at this without being, actually, able to look at the openings, but by concept, it conceivably could work, and still have better than acceptable air movement to prevent the rise in radiator temperature?:chat: Am I all wet, or does this bring up more bad than good?

Tested the Kwik Kamp, ultimate test. Rewired the 5 wire to match the 4 wire from the bike, tested the continuity, and took it down to Auto Zone, and as I left, I got stopped by a cop! He had parked his K-9 vehicle diagonally in front of the bike! Someone has a signature line that says something about when a cop stops you, hope that it's to say "nice trike" that's what happened. He rides an 80's vintage Goldwing. He's also retired military, a retired sergeant major, that lived in the same housing area I lived and worked in. We had a few minutes conversation, about the bike, and the state of the Union, and some of the places we had been.
Any way, back to the testing of the Kwik Kamp, the temperature never got over half way up and the plate kept my foot as cool as a cucumber, I was just riding around, the ambient temp on screen read 101, not down at low speeds, but I think my plate mod is going to work out. :clap: :spyder2: :clap:

I have the St Limited 2013 and yes it does have the right side heat problem

i saw this and ordered the pipe and block off plat yesterday the pipe i ordered was

and with the upper and lower block off plates and the pipe mounted on the lower plat i hope it works out for me
