Left at 730 am from Santa Monica CA. to the Corbin factory in Hollister, CA. Approx 300 miles north if
you take the short direct route. Got there at 1:15pm do to a slight delay I will talk about later.

Once there I received incredible service from the entire staff at Corbin!

I wasn't scheduled for the ride-in service till Saturday morning, but they were eager to start.So I pulled her right in.

I was given a whole ring catalog of all their different choices of leathers.

I asked for Freddy and he came forward and went right to work removing my old seat and affixing a mold
to determine comfort strategies for my particular ride. I didn't need the LaMonster cut as there replacement
seat is already an inch back from the stock one and I was fine with that.

After riding it around the parking
lot we determined where they were gonna trim a little here or there. Then it was back to the choices
I had picked out and Freddy showing how the side panels that they recommend in the man made material
due to less stretching would look with my choice of leather. He showed me the most popular ones, but I
went a different direction with the 'Alligator' leather, Black Shiny for the seat arm rests and back & trunk
rest and Mercedes for the side panels.

Next we discussed stitching pattern choices and I showed them the Spyderlovers thread I had asked
people to show there seats in. And I liked dAVE01's stitching pattern that I pulled up on my phone.

Then Freddy asked what type of threading we looked at the stock and also the silver that was on Lamonts. I am kind of partial to red and so we went with ....................

They did the armrests first and when I came back the next morning they started mounting the armrests.

Mike Corbin was there on Saturday also.

They did the stitching and corbin spyder logos for me in solid red.

Then just like LaMont I had my forum name embroidered lest anyone else has a timeless black RTS

If you have the opportunity, do the ride -in, and stay at the Cinderella motel 2 miles away for $43.20, but make
sure you eat at the restraunt on Corbins property. Best breakfast and you can watch your bike seat being installed at the same time.

So I had a wonderful enjoyable ride back, and not once did I have to raise the seat to put gas in :thumbup:

Wow, looks fantastic!!! Great leather choices. Very classy!! I think those of you who are able to do the drive in, get much better results than those who have to do everything long distance. Just my observations. You are lucky being able to do it in person.

ScottyB, actually that is Lamonts breakfast from last April, I know this for a fact as I had my eggs scrambled but everything else was the same, Oh and I like cream in my coffee!

So how did the new saddle feel going home? Was it nicer than the stock seat (which I abhor)? Marissa, the Corbin rep I dealt with told me it will take approximately 2k miles to fully break in the new saddle. Mine comes in this week and I too went with the Tuck 'N' Roll stitching with black thread, black welting, and the Corbin Logo and Spyder in Red.

A couple of questions; Did Corbin work out the issue of the front seat rivets scratching the paint on the front "tank" area? Two, I got the Large Oval Back-rest but I noticed you got the Standard with the Chrome Backing upgrade, did the back rest help?

Lastly and unrelated, I noticed that you have the black "honeycomb" grill on the right side (radiator exhaust) that is missing from the stock production models, where did you get that little item from? Please advise.

The saddle felt great riding in. It is a much more firmer feel than the stock being extremely cushy. I plan on doing some long hauls in the saddle and I believe firmer will be better on my can than cushy, similar to my mattress is a firm mattress no pillow top. Having said that I was advised when I picked out the shinny Alligator that it was more slippery than the regular non shinny. I had them dish out more to have me sit lower. I am wedged into the saddle when I feet are on the extended Highway boards, but not so much in the peg position. I am looking at ways to stop the slip. I have an item somewhere in my garage that might work if I can find it, also wondering if what they use on baseballs(think it is resin) will work to make the contact area with my butt more grabby.

The back rest is the single biggest best improvement. I love it! You are in a seat with support now. It folds forward or can be removed or fastened down. It does have some wiggle and I am gonna put the bolt they give you to see if it stops the wiggle. Will report back on that later. Gotta go to work now.


And lastly the honeycomb grill I got from Kewlmetal. (vendor here on Spyderlovers) They make it in spyder web or the stock honeycomb version, chrome or black, to give it that finished look.

You can have them adjust it but I would just get rid of the pin and forget about it. There's no need to have it now seeing your fuel door isn't locked.

If you go to Corbin's web site you can build what you want and they show the price and the break down, mine was 1449+ tax. That include a chrome backing
on the backrest also. They don't charge extra for the stitching or type of leathers you choose, and even stitched the TicketBait on at no
additional charge. The installis included in the price as well.

The memory of watching it get done, and the great feeling in my
rear end on the ride home..........priceless.

Heck I even had a red :spyder2:jump on the bottom of my chaps at no charge. It's crawling up to get on the armrest that says just corbin

excellent idea, I will look at it tomorrow to see if it is just bolted on, the seat is so heavy it's not going anywhere.
