There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. the continuing oil leak

The death machine is back in the shop, I am trying out rays sport and cycle in Grand rapids MN this time, they are 70 miles away (instead of 160 to st cloud honda house) So I thought I would give them a try at this continuing warranty issue.. It getting pretty bad, can't figure out where its coming from but I am sure we will get to the bottom of it.

Its also snowing here now and under 30 F out so its a week of killing all deer I can.

Yeah, it is cold here in Texas also, only gonna get to 70 today :roflblack: I know, :lecturef_smilie:
I used to live in Iowa, much shorter riding season. I ride in cold, but draw the line at snow and ice.

Why didn't they clean the engine, Then Add some Fluorescent dye in the crankcase.:dontknow:
Maybe that will save a lot of time and grief.???

Oil Leak

Seth, here is a way I used to find oil leaks in aircraft piston engines. Clean the area around the suspected leak location. It needs to be CLEAN. Next sprinkle talcum powder over the area, just a dusting, does'nt need to be caked on. Start engine and the leak should stain the powder, showing where the oil is coming from.

I have tried a few tricks like the powder deal, I think that it may be more than just one spot, I have had to replace the gasket around the waterpump shaft, the oil cooler o ring and a front head gasket.

this one has been getting to the point were it was like driving a 70's chevy pick, add oil once a week.

they are working on it tomorrow, I did get 2 deer with my crossbow tonight which was awesome, another misadventure to tell about.

death machine is back, The bill was $71.50, well worth the cost to know to NEVER bring you spyder to Rays sport and cycle in Grand rapids, mn. I thought it was just me and when davey hanson went to get it the **** show continued, From the Service manager telling me it was my airbox leaking oil when I don't have one to the guy saying "can am.... spyder? whats that" that the service counter.

The oil leak they said was the oil rebreather line hose clamp was not tight and they said it would blow oil everywhere, going to have to see.

well 5 miles out of the garage the oil leak came back, not as much but there.

So I call them and they said well bring it back and we can find it, I tell them no, is there anything we can do with the 71 bones they charged me , not to mention the gas and dicking around going over there and he says again no I can bring it back there. I said that is not going to work for me and then he says to help them out tell them when I figure it out so they know.

DON't go to rays sport and cycle in grand rapids MN for spyder work.

First it was the geese now its the deer. No animal is safe in MN with Seth and the death machine on the prowl. Too bad your Grand Rapids, MN dealer is no good the dealer in Grand Rapids, MI is great. Hope you figure it out soon.

Seth,
I'm gonna need more info about the deer hunting misadventures... :roflblack:

ok, so I work nights, 1830 to 600am so I get up about noonish, take care of handicapp stuff, clean up the house with some help and a guy I work with called me about 915am and said I got to get my ass out there to hunt, so I zero my crossbow and find my muzzy broadheads shoot 6'' 's right and another buddy had all my hunting stuff so I was on my "if I had to outfit the 4th person with my stuff" stuff which was a brown hoodie, bdu pants, a camo facemask from the 80's and loud ass harbor freight gloves. so I get out there and the guy estimates 20 yards for me and puts up a blind below another stand where I sit in my loud ass wheelchair.

the deer come in, I get a shot which I have to take right handed (I am left and have NEVER shot my crossbow right, lesson learned) at about 35 yards, if you have not shot a crossbow they are loud AND fast compared to a bow. The big doe jumps and then looks around, walks off the field... Miss I think WTF. Also with a crossbow you have to use a crank or the string locks in differently and throws your bolts all over.So click .click. click and another bolt goes in.

2 more deer come out, put their smokes out and come party. I get one at 22 yards left handed, let it fly, small jump STARTS EATING!!! and walks off tail up.. I am throwing this crossbow away as I am cranking, loudly the last bolt, its darkish, F it I text my buddy and he comes down.

He finds the bolt from the second bolt, looks like you gut shot it... **** I hate to have people help me and especially hunting so we get the truck , the lights and go out.

Well they both were dead were lost sight of them, apparently thats what they do with crossbow hits, just bleed out, the first one was 2'' back but cut the diagram, she went 75 yards the other went 65 yards and died. Both were very tasty , just did 40 lbs of jerky last night.

Broadheads cause death by making sure that the blood leaks out of where it should be...
Unlike bullets which can transmit a lot of hydrostatioc shock into the critter in the crosshairs...
I've had several deer walk off and start feeding again... It's kind of neat to see them walk off and then do a little stagger and then drop.... A relatively quick and pianless death to them!
I don't use a crossbow; I've got a Liberty that's dang quick... My hunting setup is a 300 grain arrow (75 gr broadhead...) and this little 60lb, 30" draw baby pitches them at 306 fps! :yikes:

Get your money back.

I have a oil leak in my airbox. It comes from the PCV (positive crankcase ventilationemmission) system. There a hose on the left side of engine at the rear value cover that goes to airbox. When running at high RPM's it is sucking oil into the engine and oil that's not sucked into the engine stays in the airbox and leaks out of the airbox. I thought the emission related components were under warranty for 5 years or 18,641 miles. If this is the problem you should get your money back. That's IMHO.

have not had a air box in years, have the evlizone air system that eliminates it for that reason, I got almost 60k on the beast and that is one part that is a must.

I have had no experience with the spyder engine however I have seen this same symptom on many other bike engines. For example on the Excelsior Henderson's the crank case breather was routed into the air cleaner. This was for emission sake but at high rpm the engine would cause enough "windage" to blow oil into the air cleaner and then oil would run down across the engine and your foot.
The fix was simple. Remove the hose from the air cleaner and reroute to the rear of the bike. Any oil that escaped just dripped harmlessly on the ground. Sometimes we would add a very small crankcase breather filter which did just a bit of needed flow restriction which in the end totally eliminated the problem.
I had the same issues with 900Z1's and 1100XJ's.

I just wonder if this could be the issue with the spyder?
