The compressor on 2012 RT doesn't run - any fuse? Where?

Hi, on a 2012 Spyder RT, my compressor doesn't run. Does anyone know if there is a fuse, and where it might be?

Since you are asking, I'll assume you didn't get an owner's manual when you bought you Spyder used. Yes, there is a fuse. The fuse box is in the frunk on the right side behind the liner. I can't tell you the number, my manual is in my Spyder, and it's not handy right now. BTW, go to the BRP website and you can download an owner's manual for your Spyder.

More than likely it's a burnt-out pump! Very common, a lot of us have gone through it, some of us just went the easy route and made it a manual fill, going from the bag straight to the Shrader valve! The fittings have a release button on the end, push in hard on the end while pulling on the hose, and it will come out. You should have enough hose there to do it, if not, you can get what you need from an auto supplier that has parts for an air brake system. Good luck! Give us a shout if you get stuck.

Acccording to my Norwegian manual, the fuse is in the frunk and a 20A fuse located at number 8 on the picture.

I had to change my compressor nearly two years ago, but the compressor was still turning. On my 2012 it was the counterweight that had broken off from the piston rod.

Hope it is just the fuse in your case!

Hey thank you all for your input, also Pegasus1300 you were right about my hose to my throttlebody being cracked causing a lean reading. replaced the tubing and all is good again. smiley face. I'll look for the fuse.

Glad it worked out for you

Hi, I have downloaded the manual but it doesn't list the compressor fuse

Hey Drew. As Norwegian said, it is F8. The compressor shares this fuse with a bunch of other circuits. If your horn works, then the fuse is ok. There's a relay associated with the ACS system - Relay R1. But, it's hardly ever the problem, either.

This thread, along with about a million others, might be helpful.

As stated, this was a very common problem with the first generation of compressors...and maybe the second. They seem to be a bit more reliable now. If yours is the original compressor, it probably hasn't worked for 10 years. There are a lot of alternatives in replacing the compressor, or run the system manually. Re-routing tubing will help in case of leakage. Search the forum. A LOT of info on this. When I had the 2012, I ran the system manually after the second compressor failed. Only had to put air in it twice a year. Good luck.
