There are a couple of references to climate and the end times in wisdom literature - the bible - that are interesting to consider...
[Genesis 8:22 NIV] "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease."
[2 Peter 3:12 NIV] "...as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat."
The occurrences of extended ice ages and droughts does puzzle me when I consider the Genesis quote... I don't have an explanation for these climate events. But it does seem that there are regular cycles the earth has endured. As far as the final chapter in the history of the earth, the words used are "fire" and "melt" indicating lots of heat. Again, I don't have an explanation about how or when it is supposed to happen. Just another perspective. And, here is an interesting article about the end of earth, which is to be on April 23rd...
