• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The attention is nice however.....

Have to agree our rides do draw alot of attention! Girlfriend was taking her road test on our SpYder and as she starts down the road several people tried running out into the road to get her to stop the bike so they could look at it:yikes:. Another person yelled for her to stop so his son could look at the bike and at a light people on the sidewalk were yelling at her and talking to her. I was sitting in the car with the DMV person just shaking my head the whole time.
Thankfully the evaluator did not penalize her for any of this and she is now out running around even more on our SpYder. :2thumbs:

When I first got the RT I loved the attention, now it has become almost too much. Everywhere I go someone wants to discuss the RT. They want to know "how fast it goes," where the dealers are located, who makes it, the mpg, and the price. The price is often where they stop saying "I could buy a car for that and it would get better gas mileage. I try to explain that I did not get it for the mpg, and that the price was comparable to a Goldwing.

Seriously it is difficult to go to the gas station for a fast fill-up without adding an extra 10 minutes every time. The uniqueness and attention are great, but I am noticing that 90 percent of the people who ask about it are 1-over 60, 2- used to ride when they were younger-and love to give you every detail, 3- they discuss a friend who was in an accident, 4- they want to know if it "drives like a car," and if you need a special license.

Lastly many times they ask to sit on it and end up scraping their foot across the seat even after explaining how to mount it.

Anyway, my complaint is minor, but i do wonder if others find the constant attention to be getting old to a point?

I know of one rider that actually did that and hands them out for his RS when he has to run he gave me one and I thought it was a great Idea.
When I got my owners pack yesterday I got 20 folding cards for the can-am to hand out. 20 they should have given us more like 200 or more.
We also carry around cards from our dealer so we can hand them out when people ask us where.

When Asked?
Price:....... if you have to ask you cannot afford it.
MPG......... At today's prices... Ditto Price.
Speed...... I turn on the console and let them peek.
OMG, 200 they say... I don't respond.
How fast have you driven it?? "speed Limit" I respond.
Where can you buy it? Most CAN AM Dealers.

I have been think about printing the above on a card and just hand it to them as I get my fuel and pit stop.

:agree: BRP should probably send each of us a case of those folding cards.

They would be real handy, but we have never received any of the cards. I guess they think we would be bad ambassadors. :D

The new owners kits they are sending out are different than the one I received. My wife just got hers a couple of weeks ago, and it included 20 of these cards in it. It also had an owners patch to go along with the pin, and a card with her name on it and a picture of a stock red Spyder like hers originally was.

You know, this topic has come up a lot over the years (do a search). Since everyone is meeting in Chitown at the end of the week, perhaps someone might mention this to the BRP reps while you're face to face with them?

I mean if we're all unpaid ambassadors of their product...throw us a bone and improve the owner packets distribution system. Clearly it could be improved.

I'm just suggesting this because it's a win/win situation for everyone and there's no risk putting the BRP reps on the defensive on this topic! It quite possible they may not even know there is a problem until someone tells them directly. This weeks gathering just seems like a golden opportunity for someone to at least mention it. :D

Do I need a merit badge sash ?

Do I have to buy a merit badge sash for the patch and pin? I would rather they stock parts rather than pins and patches

Yes you Do!!

Is this another complaint? Or are you just piggy-backing on the last one.

As a positive suggestion maybe you should start a new thread as this

might get overlooked.

Not a complaint as far as the pins and patch....

The backorders are a different matter. I was lucky and got my se shifting issue resolved prior to the official recall notice. But I understand many are waiting for their parts to arrive.

What's an "owners pack?"

When you register your Spyder with BRP they send you an owner's package. If you bought new from a dealer, then the dealer is supposed to register the sale with BRP. If you bought used, then you can register, and fill out the form on http://spyder.brp.com to prove your ownership and they will send you a package.

If that was the the envelope with the pin and membeship card, I got it, but I don't remember getting anything to hand out to curious onlookers.

The new packet has stuff in it that the old packet did not. I did not get any of the foldout cards when I got my kit in November 2009m but my wife did when she got hers last month.
