Hi there Bytemi....I have followed your story with interest and your doggedness and determination are amazing.

Congratulations on acquiring Peanut, a very elegant machine. You'll soon get the hang of the gear change and how to keep it smooth.

I did have a thought about why your gear change may feel rough. The bike is four years old and has only done relatively few miles in that time.

I'm thinking that an oil/filter change may well be beneficial (certainly won't do any harm) as oil that's ageing doesn't work as well as fresh oil and

that oil could be two or more years old. Just a thought. Also when it's being serviced in your local shop the tech guy can check out it's history on the computer.

Brake cover....

I asked about floor boards yesterday because it was uncomfortable getting my foot from the peg the small brake, if that makes any sense. I found this today and I wondering if anyone had any experience with it:

I've got one on my RT, and I love it! :2thumbs:

There are two bolts that hold the pedal on. you'll need a 1/4" drive wrench, and a 10 mm socket...

Just make sure it still leaves you enough room to be comfortable on the peg or floorboard. A few have posted that the wider pedal can push your foot too far out on the peg/board. I tried one as a bigger target, but it pushed my foot too far out on the board ( but I wear size 15s, so you would sort of expect that )

I purchased her with 2011 miles, is is now at 2156, rode home and rode around the block, multiple times. Yes getting more comfortable. My boss freaked out today, my work husband freaked out and my dad. I hate to say it, but they are all wrong, I got this.

Hi Bytemi, I found the larger brake pedal a little to long and cumbersome, so I cut it down a bit. On this forum under DIY, look for the Brake pedal Message I wrote. Don't know how handy your hubby is with tools, but the mod works great and wasn't very hard to do. If you need better pics or have questions please just ask.:thumbup:

Put one on my 2011 RT-S and love it but it threw the code VSS and limp home but never went into limp home mode speed. Shop placed it on BUDS and it showed excessive use of break. I don't ride the break so discussed with Service Manager and he agreed the bigger pedal may be adding just that tiniest extra wait to be fooling Nanny into thinking I am riding the break thus throwing the code. I may need to look at how to shave off 1/8 - 1/4 inch and see if that makes a difference. Just hate to think how it will make the peddle look with the extra rubber cover after bringing down the pedal.

I got the cool shirt system last week and Erik took me out on the Harley to test it out on Saturday. We rode for about 30 minutes to go to lunch and then back home. The system worked!!!! Erik said he was sweating and I was conformable. I wasn't hot, or cold, just comfortable.


The only negative thing I can say about the system is it builds condensation fast, so you shirt does get wet. See pictures below, I know the one looks obscene. Also when you disconnect the hoses, water that remains in the tubes pours out. Being aware of that, I know not to hold it in my lap when disconnecting from the unit. LOL

We did find a new complication and I don't know if was just the Harley or it will be all motorcycles, but 5 minutes into the ride my hip went into a spasm. I spent yesterday in bed because it hurt too much to walk. So we are adding another step into this process. I am going to rent a Spyder for a day and see if I have the same issue. I found a place in Fairfax, about 30 minutes from my house that allows daily rentals for $260 a day. If you have a better suggestion, I am open to ideas.

So the process continues and I am moving today but still sore.

I also have a problem with hip spasms. I have found that staying hydrated really helps. I don't know if this would help you or not, but I know on hot days I have to stay hydrated.
