• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The 4210 Yard Shot

good shot

I'm lucky if I can hit the broad side of a barn at 10 yards. I do like the fact that they can reach out a loooong ways though. So many little variables. A 0.001 grain of powder. Bullet weight, a sctatch on the surface of the bullet. Heart beat ( at least for me)and temperature/pressure. Uphill/down hill and spin drift. And ten other things that effect the extra long range shots.
Any one care to guess what those rifles cost???? I guess 20 to 25 K.

Kaos

Holy crap. Getting as close as they were was a heck of a feat let alone hitting it. At that distance and flight time, the earth's rotation has to be factored in.:bowdown:

:agree: There's a lot of SERIOUS Math involved in making a shot like that!

Over seven years ago I was at my sister's ranch in WY. My brother-in-law was helping me do some long range shots. I had 100 & 200 yards down pat. It was the 500 yards that had me beat. The Leupold scope wouldn't go high enough on elevation. I was using a Remington 700 Sendaro in .270 caliber with a 135 grain Sierra HPBT match bullets that were hand loaded. It has a full floating bull barrel.

At 100 yards I could hit a 3/4" dot on a piece of paper. That rifle was a tack driver. I got bored with regular targets. That's why I switched to those dots you get at the office supply store to shoot at.

I sent the scope off to Leupold and they fixed it as it seemed to have tweeked out trying to get the elevation. I understand there it a special base that can be adjusted elevation wise to help for the long shots? I can't seem to find info on one. Plus my sister's family sold the ranch.

4210 yard shot

They are getting to the point where we will see them bend the bullet.....:yikes:

Military already has the technology to shoot around and over obstacles and hone in on their targets with shoulder weapons
