• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thats it..... !! That's all the 'upgrades' bring!?

As I said yesterday not much would change and still has all the same problems. Vibrating belt, bad tires ECT. Not impressed with brp.
Then you should definitely sell that motorcycle, cause it ain't getting any better!:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Well to me it seems like the Spyder line is not very profitable for BRP, and why would they continue to invest money in a product that doesn't sell well. This is why there are less and less changes each year. I drove across the country on vacation and saw only about three Spyders on the road the whole trip compared to seeing thousands of motorcycles. I love Can-Am Spyders but I think their time is coming to an end.
The Spyder line has yet to turn a profit!

I like the new cluster... plus the Bluetooth looks to be an improvement over the outdated "dongle" system. I'm currently planning on hanging the "for sale" sign on mine, I should be able to get enough to pay off the loan and pocket the rest to take care of bills between now and spring. The "black out" option for the RT limited and F3t limited has my attention, and the price for the RT limited looks about even with what I spent on my STS but with the addition of top & side cases and the electric windshield I found myself wishing I had. Funny thing is most of the year I'd been tossing the idea of this or switch to a dual sport ADV (R1200GSA, ok I'll admit, some writings by a really swell drummer by the name of Mr. Peart influenced me a bit). But being 90% of my riding experience has been on the spyder or on ATV's it's likely I'll give 3 wheels another go. I've been seeing quite a bit of those RTs on the road especially out west since I started running those states.

I wait every year, and lately it is only getting worse. No joke here, I am going to have to buy used or a hold over to find anything worth owning. By the way, My RS-S is the only spyder my 15 year old daughter will get on. She, and all of her friends think the other models are ugly, or grandma machines. That is why the market is cooling off. Now the F3 is only taking away from RT sales.

:crackpipe:Aiming at new owners with $20,000 and $30,000 machines??? Or releasing your entry model at the end of the riding season??? BRP is just as out of touch as they have always been, and until there is some competition, they will continue to do whatever they want.

Just sayin'.............
I have to totally disagree with you! BRP is doing exactly what the market is asking for. I have been conducting demo rydes for BRP for the last two years. We are leading prospective buyers on rydes of 30 to 45 minutes. It is awesome to see the smiles on the faces of these folks when they come back from those rydes. Some are disabled, many are not as fortunate as some of us that can afford to purchase these beautiful highly advanced machines. The biggest hurdle in the sales process for these people is finding a way to get them qualified to purchase a Spyder. It is very sad when they get turned away and the smiles turn to frowns. Two years ago I was a part of a "focus group" conducted by the BRP EVP of design and innovation. One of the major topics and areas of interest that came from this group was the need for an entry Spyder to get people started along the Spyder path. So they do listen, and they do care!

I would bet that the new screen won't be able to cure the issue of glare; nothing can!
Backward compatibility has never been BRP's strongest suit... :banghead:
But that would reduce sales of the "latest and greatest", so I'm not sure if it would make sense for them to pursue it.
Simple affordable way to cut down on glare! Don't wear light colored clothing!

You could have a Spyder for $10k. Go with a manual transmission, use an older cluster like the RS's had, go back to the V-twin motors. A base RS stripped down. Lots of other manufacturers are doing that trying to get millennials into the market.

Some thoughts after re-reading the whole thread.

Most of the complaints seem to be coming from the fact that we think BRP could have done more.

Scary is the fact that there are comments that Spyder has not turned a profit since day one. I do not know if that is fact--but I am suspecting that is pretty close. This could have an effect on future years production.

No profit, means R & D is going to be at slow to nothing. You cannot throw money into a black hole.

If you look at the history:

GS/RS: was the beginning of the line in 2008 and pretty much remained the same until its recent demise. 998 engine with very few tweeks, just color changes and an attempt to jazz things up with RSS. Not to many of those around. I jumped on these in 08 and 09.

RT: An attempt at "touring" version in 2010. Same 998 engine, just added trunk and saddle bags with some styling and suspension changes. I jumped in and had a Premier edition. They added the ST--which was a stripped version of the RT. Less expensive and saddle bags became an added option. Not a lot of those around. Between 2010 and 2013--mostly color changes.

2014: The introduction of the 1330 three cylinder. A slight re-styling of the fenders and grill openings. I jumped on this and liked the new engine improvements. Better mileage, and less required maintenance.

They added the F3. A "cruiser" version built with the same 1330 engine and the adjustable foot positions. I knew this was going to become the replacement for the RS. It has. The styling was a bit different from the RT. The first year, a lot compared it to a Dodge Truck. I liked it. They then added saddle bags, and now a top trunk. Are they going to replace or discontinue the RT...:bbq::bbq::bbq:It now can cost as much or more than the RT package.

The company has managed to go through 10 years with two engines and pretty much two model variations at a time. We are now down to two models RT & F3 and one engine. It remains to be seen what the future holds. I have almost 150,000 assorted miles on the product. Have invested a lot of money--on five different (top line) versions, all the required services, assorted gear, gas, and insurance. It has been a good ride so far...but...they have not tweaked me to jump in at the current time for an "upgrade."

I am thinking that this is what most of us have wanted to say. If I am wrong--guess I will hear about it.:yes:
