• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thanx Forrest

I am on my way to Bonneville when I begin to hear thump thump thump from my rear wheel. :( I could also feel the thumping through my feet. I just had my rear tire replaced along with a wheel bearing at Cowtown. Since I was in Salt Lake I took it to Doc's and Forrest's favorite dealer in SLC, High Adventure and Power Sports. The tech there, Gary (recommended by Doc) took it for a test ride and thought could be a bearing. Upon inspection, the bearings were fine but the HUB was destroyed. The bearing was flopping around and ground an oval out of the hub.
Bad news, they don't have a replacement hub and can't get one from BRP until Monday:gaah:
Now, this is where Forrest comes into the story. It appears that they had to take apart one of their demo RTs to get Forrest back on the road AND THE DEMO IS STILL IN PIECES SO THEY CAN GET A HUB OFF OF IT. I said go for it. Don't know what it will cost:dontknow: i should be back on the road in a couple of hours.

Your recent trips have turned out to be real adventures. Glad you found a solution. Hang in there. We may award you the honorary Brit Bike Rider award at the end of the year. You are certainly in the running.

Here are some pics of the bearings and hub. The hub shows considerable wear, the Bearings not so much.
I do have 32,000+ miles on the thing, (at least 11,000 mi pulling my trailer) so I am not too surprised.
No one seems to have a good reason for this to happen. Tech at the dealer thinks the axel bolt was not torqued properly during one of the past wheel
removals but he was just guessing.
I remember that BRP wanted the rear bearings REPLACED AT 12,000 mi. I did not do this and I wonder if that would interfere with any warranty issues.
Total cost was about $530 including 3 new bearings and 4.5 hrs. of labor. I think this figure is extremely fair:thumbup:.
Kudos to High Adventure Power Sports for another job well done.

Reverse

My reverse gear problem seems to have cleared itself. I had ridden on about 30mi of gravel road and current wisdom seems to suggest that something loged in the reverse actuator and eventually fell out. Anyway reverse works fine now.
