• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thanks BRP.

I bought my wife, Cindy, a new Can Am helmet. I was able to get credit for my adjustable air deflectors in the amount of $135.00 toward the purchase of the helmet. The air deflectors were removed because of the heat fix for my
2013 RT-S. So thanks BRP.

Additionally, I'd like to thank BRP for having an appreciation lunch at Daytona International Speedway coming up this Saturday. It will be a great time and a time to see old friends.

Thanks for posting about the resolution to your situation. Many times we hear the bad stuff, but people neglect to update the posts when something good happens.:bowdown:

You mean the appreciation lunch that they say is closed and someone said last year they showed up and were initially turned away so they bitched enough to get in? No thanks, not feeling very appreciated. All they did was post it on Facebook where I was not looking. I put up with daily/weekly mails from CanAm but not one was about owner event. I sent corporate an email asking about it and got back a canned sorry reply with link to upcoming events (which I did see and has Daytona listed, but no mention of owner event). I guess the owner event is a top secret thing for the first 200 people that saw their Facebook post - according to CanAm anyway. Sorry for the touch of attitude, just a crappy way for them to do it.

But good job on getting the credit!

Cool, let us ignored people 3000 miles away know how the lunch turns out. Figure being the highest population state and more than all of Canada we could get some love

Bob, I understand that you're trying to be helpful; how ever latony007 & SpyderSteveFl have valid sentiments.

If as a corporation you are going to make the decision to use facebook and not also include those folks who have indicated that they would like email communications with BRP about upcoming events and information, then I feel that this is not the friendly way to communicate with your purchasing public.

Would you as a business owner use one form of communication with your customers when you were advertising a sale and a completely different platform to announce give aways and free events??

No I doubt that you would do that. That's the gripe being voiced.

BRP needs to include ALL individuals in the manner which they have requested to be informed about ALL information distributed.

Ive been receiving numerous emails

I actually don't have a Facebook account, but I have to admit I have been getting a
ton of email from brp / can am with a lot of info on upcoming events. For those that aren't getting the emails, I wonder if you were to go to the brp web site and resubcribe to the news and events emails if that might help?

:dontknow:

I'm not on FaceBook, and I don't mind passing up whatever it is, that gets pushed in there..
It it bothers you: sign up!

A free lunch?

Seriously people, you are getting your dandruff up because of the lack of a personal invitation to a free lunch?
i could understand the people that were there and rejected, but if you were not there, why fret over it.
personally, if I were them I would not do reservations on Facebook either, they had room for 200, half of those that were awarded the lucky prize most likely were not within 100 miles of Daytona.
take a Ryde, and forget about it!

My post about the luncheon was an after thought. I'm one to give a thank you to show appreciation. Although I'm on Facebook, I don't look at the BRP stuff. I actually got my notice (I think) through an email or perhaps it was a posting with a link on Spyderlovers.

Now as far as last year? I had the same experience with having the people at the front table not having my name on the list. I told them about my situation and they immediately got me on it. There was no difficulty.

Even if I had not gotten on the list, I would have thanked BRP for sponsoring. I got to see a lot of my "old buddies", (Joe, Ron, Anne, Johnny, and the list goes on ad infinitem). That in and of itself was enough for me to say thanks to BRP for holding this event.

My cup is half full.

Chris

I am a fortunate one...BRP sends us nothing. I did check out the Can Am Spyder FB group hosted by BRP, but decided it was not for me.

After some pleading with BRP we finally got the warranty stuff and that is it. No key holders, no sales or new model info. No nothing.

Even the dealer we bought from, Ride Now in Ocala Florida has never sent anything except the options we paid for and needed to be shipped. Even the Ride Now phone survey of how the dealer rated and the follow up phone calls that supposedly were coming never made it.

I just honestly tell people about dealers I would use. Tell them my honest opinion of the machine. Tell them my honest opinion of how I view BRP. Then move on.

After witnessing the lack of interest by the BRP personnel in potential sales while I attended the Miami show, it simply supported the corporate style. Loads of potential interested people, checking out all the new 2016 Spyders, and the BRP folks simply standing around their little counter display. In Miami, the other brands were exactly opposite, with friendly knowledgeable workers ensuring any questions were answered and encouraged you to sit on the bikes and ask about every detail.

Sometimes so much potential for greatness is lost in poor customer service.

Well I'm almost sorry I even said anything. Just to be crystal clear I perhaps did not articulate my frustration properly. Paul said it much better - it's really about piss poor communication and customer service on CanAm/BRPs part. I honestly couldn't care less about a pin or a free lunch. For me it was really more about meeting people like Lamont and all the Spyder enthusiasts. I was there last week and saw a few Spyders but it was just a wave in passing. I figured if I were not allowed in to the owner appreciation event I would not get to meet the other Spyder owners and I did not want to drive up there again (abandoning some local responsibility this weekend) only to be turned away. I have a 2 wheel buddy there now who even stopped by CanAm to ask about Sat and they were either clueless, pointed him to another group or simply gave a quick non appropriate reply or turned away. So it's really like Paul said - very poor Customer Service that just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. And yes, if I opt in and read all the emails they pummel me with regarding new sales offers, etc. I would expect a simple email about the owner event - (forget about even signing up, if it weren't for this forum I would not even know anything about it at all). Or even explain - anyone can come and hang out but only x number gets lunch or ride on the track, I would be fine with that but the impression is if you weren't the first 200 to sign up at their special website linked only from their FB page you are not invited in at all.

So there it is, sorry to start a controversy, it's really not a big thing but if their customer svc was half as good as their product it would be great.

And Chris, I really don't want to call you out on this, but your earlier comment weighed in on this.

You now said:

Now as far as last year? I had the same experience with having the people at the front table not having my name on the list. I told them about my situation and they immediately got me on it. There was no difficulty.

But in Lamont's thread a few weeks ago you said:

If by "in the tents" you mean to eat, again, I can't say with certainty. However, I do recall that last year this "signing up" or not being able to came up. When I went to get in line to eat, they didn't have me listed on their sheet. I raised a bit of hell about it and they wound up letting me in. I do plan on taking the emails they sent me this year with me to show that I had attempted to sign up.

I'm really sorry to pick on your comment, and maybe I somehow are misinterpreting but for someone new to these things and not knowing how they really work your earlier comment helped solidify that I did not want to go and argue. Your comment here about you just went and got in with no difficulty is very different. If I had read that I probably would have felt they were friendly and let all owners in.

All I wanted to do is come up, walk into a Spyder event and meet other Spyder owners, not raise hell with CanAm or anything. I'm not into bitching, just being friendly.

Anyway, theres my $5 worth on it - sorry to have started anything. Let's get back to talking about our great machines and not crappy communication!
