• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Here's what you do..!!

read the manual cover to cover. Watch the video and do as it says and practice. With or without motorcycle experience it will take a good 300 miles or more to get the hang of these roadsters. There is a great what to do that will be posted for you from those that know where it is. Congrats..!! Told you it would not be long before you were among us....:ohyea:

:congrats:
Do you have any experience at all on ATVs or motorcycles?
The Spyder isn't a motorcycle, nor does it feel at all like one; it's going to feel more like an ATV out on the road.
Gene is right; the manual is your best fried; after all of us, of course!
If you have questions (and you will), please do not hesitate to bring them up in here.
There are NO stupid question; only answers that might need to be phrased a bit better...

Dealers fees

Dealers fees are usually cast in jello. My suggestion would be to try and get them knocked down
or eliminated. Have fun with your new :spyder2:. Be sure and check out their service department before you sign on the dotted line. As you can see from this forum, service is very different depending on where you go.

Thank you

You hit the nail on the head. The thing i was worrying about is the fees and how to approach the matter,as for service i'm going to berts mega mall.i should be able to put on 600 in a matter of a week or 2 with open parking lot practice at the beach at night.

I am glad it is working out for you. I sent you a PM with my contact info in case you have any questions about your Spyder.

The dealer fees seem high--ask them to break them down and question what you don't think is right. You might not get any money off of your deal--but how about some accessories? The bottom line is that you are happy with the price once you drive off the lot.

All dealers shoot for profit X. To get there, they play with trade in values, fees, finance rates, etc. There are a lot of ways with playing with the final price of the machine. You have done some shopping around now so have an idea what's out there.

thank you for you concern

dont buy a 2013 .do your homework .you can find a new 2012 or wait for the 2014's .

i have read up on the model i intend on purchasing (RS-S SE5) and besides the lack of a power commander or juice box option that bike is amazing the best of of older models and and the new tech combined so far in my opinion My homework is done, turned in and ready to be graded. i just cant see myself paying $2000.00 more with customer service i've been receiving these days. (here i go sounding cheap again)

Bargain hard

A spyder consumer at this point in the year should be able to get a good deal including nebulous dealer costs. Bargain hard on the 2013 you want and then enjoy it. I agree with others that you should be able to avoid extra added costs. Be willing to walk out the door.

This is what I paid for my 2012 RT-S SM5 Spyder

In the Columbus, Ohio area, all 3 local Can-Am dealers are affiliated with each other so no real competition on price, etc. I did try contacting other Ohio dealers. The one in Jackson was too small to have much inventory apparently. The one in Middletown area NEVER responded after several attempts to contact them. The Huron dealership was responsive and willing to deal somewhat on price, etc.

However, I ended up buying from Ridersville Cycle in Berkeley Springs, WV. Right off the bat, they were willing to offer me the incentives to travel and buy from them. I needed a 6' wide X 10' trailer with a gate for loading. While I could have rented what I needed from Sunbelt Equipment in Columbus (right next to the old Cooper Baseball Stadium) for $47 a day (based upon 24 hour period), a member of my church offered to let me borrow their trailer and I accepted his offer.

My trike lists for $25,699. Local dealers wanted dealer prep, freight and documentary fees ($1,000 in addition to list) on top of that. Ridersville Cycle wanted $22,400. NO DEALER PREP, NO FREIGHT, NO DOCUMENTARY FEES. They did charge me another $10 for the 60-Day temporary tag. I had to bring two forms of photo identification (driver license and passport in my case) plus they needed to verify my insurance coverage..

I left at 6:30 a.m. from the Columbus east side and arrived at the dealership at around noon. After an hour or so doing the paperwork; having the dealer review the trike and its features, etc.; loading it on my trailer and tying it down for me; I left and was back in Columbus at 7:00 p.m. By spending 12 and half hours and risking the dealer might try to "jack the price up" once I got there, I ended up saving nearly $4,000 and having the greatest buying experience I have ever had when I purchased my new Can-Am Spyder RT-S SM5.

P.S. In your profile, you only put UNITED STATES as to where you are located. Knowing your specific State (and town if you wish to provide it) can be very helpful. Sometimes a SpyderLover member will know a specific dealer within your State who gives better prices; has better mechanics; inventory; etc. Me suggesting a dealership in West Virginia might not make a lot of sense if you are located in Oregon.

I agree with this.

The $1,600 is $$ in the dealers pocket. I got my Silver 2012 for $17,000 (List 21,499) Plus ONLY tax and title/registration.
I did not pay ANY fee,s on the Yellow one either and it was a different dealer.nojoke

Thank you all for advice

I'm in California the dealer I called yesterday wanted my ssn# over the phone. He seemed eager to make a deal I just didn't feel comfortable with it so I'm going in right now to see if it's all a scam or bait and switch. Wish me luck
