• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Test

There is a glitch in the forum software that allows anything contained inside reply, even though it is originally posted by another member to be changed to a different sentence or phrase. The quoted staement from another member can be totally false. This should not be possible with updated software. Glitches like this can cause confusion and start conflicts if it becomes common to change other members words in a quote.

I doubt it's a glitch... I've checked other major forums and they all act the same.... I'd say it's by design...

Yes, I see now that it can be done. It made no sense that it would even be possible to change some other member's words, except possibly to correct a typo or maybe fix a link that doesn't work, but only admin would need to use it in that way.

Thinking about it, anyone can use BB Code to post quotes on the forum. The BB Code quotes do not even need to be another forum member. In fact, the BB Code quote can be from a person who died 1,000 years ago. I don't guess it would be such a stretch to correct something in a reply containing a quote. If this forum works the same as many other forums I have worked on, the admin personel will have foot notes or other additional information in their copies of the forum giving the member's name of the one that made the change, anyway. So it should not be that hard to control.

I am fairly sure that there is a way to fix the forum code so that only the person who said what is quoted could change the text of it, but maybe the basic code writers didn't consider it that important. It is not all that important, just something that came up recently, and I wanted to see if it was even possible.

Many things are possible....:::waving a wand::: Abracadabra!
