Took a test ride yesterday @ Leaders Marine in Kalamazoo. Started out on a RT SE Limited as that was the only stock they had left with the paddle shifter. Went over all the controls on the handle bars and then was allowed to terrorize their parking lot for a few minutes prior to going out on the road. The belt thrum or vibration was present between 52 -5500 RPM, otherwise smooth as silk on the ride.
The fun factor is criminal:roflblack:.:bowdown::clap:
Unfortunately there weren't any curves or twisties on the short country square ride which was led by the salesman. Came back and asked if they had any RSS's available, and they had a 2008 LE #0047 with a manual transmission!!! So repeated the process in their parking lot and then went out on the road, unfortunately on the same country square course; but oh my, what a difference in performance and throttle response between the two bikes!!!
I had experienced no problem with hunting for a line with the RT, but on the RSS the steering was so much more responsive to the slightest input that the first half of the ride was just getting used to how the steering reacted.
My what a nimble machine the RSS is and the seating and riding position was almost perfect for comfortable long rides. The smile factor actually had my face aching from grinning!!!!!!!!!! I liked being more in the wind on the RSS, and feel that if I can't strap on what I want to take with me on a trip that a trailer would fix the storage problem quite nicely.
The staff @ Leaders was professional, no pressure about when I was thinking about purchasing; they are a Platinum dealer with 4 factory trained technicians in their service area. They are considering having one of their technicians devoted completely to servicing the Spyders as they moved almost 100 units this year in sales. Was invited back for additional rides if I desired, and what a remarkably enjoyable way to spend a Saturday morning.
Now my only problem is how to get my spouse on board for a purchase. Hum, feel some serious grovelling approaching:yes:

I do now completely understand all the comments about miles of smiles. I am barely able to contain my excitement and anticipation of making one of these fabulous machines my very own.
Can't happen soon enough!!!!!!!!!!
You may now resume your previous activity. Thanks for listening to my ramblings.
