• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tennessee Next week - Anything to do? Any bike events? Any suggestions?

We are heading to Tennessee on Sunday. Looking for things to do. Anyone know of any bike events? I seem to remember something about a Spyder meet up in Knoxville on Tuesdays? Does anyone know about this?

We are staying in Gatlinburg, and plan on checking out Chatanooga, Knoxville, and Johnson City.

Last year we did the Tail of the Dragon. This year we plan on the Cherahola Skyway and the Devil's Triangle, at least. Anyone know of any other rides? We really liked how the Tail had the destination buildings at the end, same for the Back of the Dragon on the way home. Anyone know of any rides where they actually have a shop at the end?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

The Rattler (NC209) is a nice alternative to a section of the BRP.

:agree: I have ridden both ( the Tail & Rattler ) and much prefer the Rattler, less traffic and never saw any LEO's on the 8 or so times I've been on it .... good luck ... Mike

All great suggestions here! Do yourself a favor and after riding the Back of the Dragon from Marion to Tazewell, (visit the shop in Tazewell), head East to Burke's Garden. Stop at Mattie's Place for the best lunch ever.

There is a really good restaurant in Tazwell, it’s in a large old white house just up the hill from the Back of the Dragon shop. Unless you like bumper to bumper traffic avoid Pigeon Ford, TN

If you like looking at wildlife, deer, bear and elk then you might want to plan a trip through Cades Cove.
It's not far from Gatlinburg but be warned, if you go late in the day be prepared for a lot of traffic. I like being there early morning myself.

You do have to go slow but for me the wildlife is so worth it.

Yes, we plan on seeing the Elk at Cades Cove. Everyone is saying be there around 5pm???

Go by visitors center, pick up motorcycle literature and maps. Tennessee and Western North Carolina have lots of great rides.

Re: Rattler merch. There is a shop at the south end of the Rattler. Don't know what merch they carry but I'd be surprised if they didn't cater to all the 'tourists'.

If you are going to Gatlinburg, I highly recommend the Moon-Shine Walk. It's a BLAST!!!

Oh, and I give many kudos to the Wheels Thru Time Museum in Maggy Valley. The sad part is the owner passed away a few years ago and just sitting around and shooting the breeze with him was just as enjoyable as seeing his museum.

HAVE FUN and watch out for crotch rockets on the tail of the dragon, they have been hitting it hard this year.

At the begining of the rattler there is a store called Fergusons . They have shirts there, a place to eat and hardware store. That is where I bought my shirts.
