• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tempture for riding

Cold weather riding

Last winter I rode down to 15 degrees several times for up to about an hour. I don't have heated gear but layer up good. I just finished a 200+ mile ride that started at about 30 degrees and ended about 45 degrees. I did stop once for a short lunch but the sun was out and a great relaxing ride. It's only been down to 27 this year so far. I did ride about 3000 miles last winter which is good for northern Illinios where it can get down to -27.

Just can't get enough riding this thing.

10 degrees above is my current bottom line. No snow or ice on the roads either. Too many big suv's and pickup trucks to take you out if anything bad happens.

I have rode as low as -10 below zero--but that was another time and place.

 That is almost out of the riding range of some of my more sissyfied snowmobiling buddies!
Now I can make them feel REALLY bad! :roflblack:

I'll let the road conditions dictate rather than cold. Since it can't fall over, I think I'll try the Spyder in frosty conditions or light snow this winter to see how it does. I just layer up with my ski clothes under my mc gear. We have a xmas toy run in December and it gets pretty cold here.

Frost and ice equals damaged motorcycle riders. Even with three wheels. It won't fall over but, it won't stop or corner either.

I'll be going up to northern minnesota this weekend for opener of deer hunting. Should be in the high 40's so thats not to bad. It's the mornings that might get chilly, say in the 20's... I just dont want snow yet:pray:. I'll have the 622 in tow so I may have to quarter what I shoot..

I've ridden in weather so cold that my slobbers would ice over all over my mouth n nose, half helmet didnt help much.nojoke
now that I have a second transportation this messican preffers 90+ temp to ride!:roflblack::thumbup::doorag:

the coldest I have road in was -40F, and at 100mph that is damn cold, I go about 4 miles heated garage to heated garage to work, at work at 630pm and leave at 6am, that run was before a heated vest I got on here.

I put sandbags under my wheelchair bracket and a snowtire on the back that you have to get a slightly smaller one because there are none in the stock size.

Here is a video of riding that year, as far as riding the spyder in the snow and ice I will have to say it works WAY better than I ever expected, the main issue is the traction control screws you on getting going but it helps a ton with stopping and cornering in the ice and snow of the great white north. There are only a few on here I talk to about riding year round up north and its takes quite a bit of planning for humans and well IF you don't know I am crazy.

Also the spyders LOVE the cold air as far as tearing around.

Never to cold

But having the right (read necessary) gear makes it work . I will not ryde on ice/snowy roads :yikes:...temp is never the deciding factor for me...I know many who have labeled me totally around the bend when they see me ryding in the middle of winter (10' degree and less qualifies for winter!!) Me I just :D:D and say ahhhh ain't it sweeeet!! BUT that is just me...temp like any choices is yours to make...what works for you is the right answer...just remember to ENJOY:yes::yes: no matter what the conditions...

Temperature

I have riden my spider in 15 deg temps, not fun When the temp is in the lows 30s I ride in my car.. Rode the spyder to work this am. Left the house at 5:15 am and it was 39 debs

At what tempture would you say was too cold for you to ride your spyder, and what it the coldest you have ridden in, and wish you were in a car instead of being on spyder?

I would say by choice 45. I have ridden on two wheels when the temp was 20 to 30 degrees with only regular street clothes. If you have the proper riding gear its no different then riding a snowmobile. ( as long as the road is clear)

A few days after New Years we had to take the wife's Spyder in for a custom wrap she was having done. The temperature was -8 F, and lots of snow. I put on my snowmachine clothing and was warm for the entire ride. The snow was a bit of a problem for the spyder, as the rear wheel had very little traction. We had to push it up a hill to get out of our neighborhood. I guess a studded tire might have helped. I have some video of the action, I will try and find. Here is a pic of the roads.

Hello Remember: Long time no see or hear. Hope everything is well with you folks.

Snow and ice have finally come to our road, so it looks like the :spyder2:'s will be parked for the season. Only 6 more months to riding season--providing the snow melts in early April.

Made 230 mile round trip to Indy in 18-20F degree temps last winter to buy our Moto-Mate Camper

On that trip, our shield actually got encased in ice. Glad I could still see over it.

Snow sucks for the rear stock tire, just be prepaired if you have to ryde in the snow, & most of all, ENJOY the RYDE
