• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Tar removal ???

We are on our way back from niagra falls and just as I was going around a hot tar roofing truck the tar overflowed and covered our spyder any ideas on how to clean this mess off?

Found some bug and tar remover at the local auto parts store. Needed it when they filled the cracks in the county road by my place:gaah:. Apply with a soft rag but 'DO NOT RUB'. Let it soften the tar then gently wipe it away. Had to repeat a couple of times where the tar was heavy. Washed the :spyder2: when done and nothing seemed the worse for wear.

did you get the license # I would say it was the owner of the truck that is responsible for an uncovered load:dontknow:

We did not get the # the first bike made it around without any mess then the load over flowed just as we were going around we were trying to get out of the way and we just didn't get the name

:yikes::yikes: Too bad that you didn't get his plate... When something like that comes off of a truck, the guy is on the hook for the cleanup!
By "covered"; how much and how thick is the goo?
You might have to remove it in 'layers'... heavy duty removal of the slop on top and then get gentle as you work back down to your Spyder... Good Luck!

The front had almost as much tar as paint. Wd 40 would take it off but with a lot of work. Dep 70 was almost painless, got most of it except in the nooks and crannys in about 15 min.

I have a can of PPG Acryli-Clean DX330 that I got from the automotive paint counter at a local paint supplier.

It is a wax & grease remover that works nicely as a tar remover on most surfaces.

Please tell us a little bit more about the stuff that you got from Len; I've not heard of it and it sounds like a real winner...

It is zep 70 penetrating lubricant with renewable soy based solvent. Len said they buy it by the case. It took the tar off way easier than anything I have ever used. I tried wd 40 and if you let it soak you could get it off but it took a lot of elbow grease and a long time.
