• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Taller and wider tires

With many hours spent in research on tire sizes for front and rear tires I think I came up with a workable combination. Fellow riders came up with Michelin Hydroedge 215/60-15 for the rear running 18 PSI. They went all the way to Alaska without any Nanny problems. So using their sucess I got one for my rear also. Really good grip and 11/32" thickness of tread. 90K wear from the maker. Had so much fun with the extra grip I took the next step and got a pair of 185/70-14 Hydroedge for the front. Did have to remove the front fenders till I could modify the oem's. No garage to work in. Once again no nanny problems. Have been on wet and rainy roads and the front tires don't get you wet because they are so far out of your riding position. About the only issue is that it spatters back to the muffler. But I sit dry in the saddle. After looking over the fenderss and how they hook up, I feel confident that modifying them will be doable for a fair weather mechanic. The fender has a removable plastic rib to stiffen up the assembly. Removing this gives about 1 1/2" more room in the center of the fender arc. When the weather gets better in the spring of 2012 I'll tackle the refit of the fenders.

Just one proviso keep the inflation on all three tires in the 17 -20 PSI range. They are car tires rated for much higher weight loads and have stiffer sidewalls. Here is an added bonus on car applications they guarantee 90 K miles of wear. So I'm guessing we should do very well. Cost wise they are just a little bit higher than OEM.

Hope this gives food for thought to my fellow Spyder Riders.

All the Best and Merry Christmas
