• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tale of the Dragon

Country Spyder

So I have a ride scheduled for late May down to TN/NC to ride the Tale of the Dragon. Has anyone done this on a Spyder? The 2 Goldwings that I am heading down with will probably have a definate advantage. Thoughts?

I do it all the time. The cops are so thick you won't get the run the Spyder hard enough to matter. :sour:

This was after my last ticket there.

If you really want to ride some nice roads, take as many non-4lane roads as possible from Cinnci to the Tail and back. Very few cops and LOTS of great riding! I agree w/ Lamonster, the Tail is a great place to show off your ride. It's also a great place to get a ticket, if you try to ride above the posted speed limit AT ALL.

Lots of spyders (about 70) hit the Tail of the Dragon last year when we all went to TN for a spyder gathering in Sept. Had a lot of fun but as Lamont said, police were thick and the roads were busy so there was no opening up of the throttle. As for the Goldwings having and advantage, not in my personal opinion. Spyder is different than a bike but handles the twisties very aggressively.

I was up there this past weekend, ran into Lamont, and when we went by the fellow with the radar, we were doing about 32mph. Looked like he had a frown on his face.:joke:

I am going to try to do it this weekend, weather permitting. Otherwise will have to wait until June. Will be in New Mexico for most of May and beginning of June.

Here is a video that my husband got of us riding the Tail of the Dragon last Sept. It isn't the highest quality that is why he bought a new one. You will see my spyder in front of him and another spyder in front of me. We aren't going as fast as I would have liked as it was quite busy and a lot of police on site. But you can see, the spyder handles like a dream on this route.
