There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Tailgunner Exhaust

Is there anyone in the Pacific Northwest area (Seattle north to the border) who has installed one of these? My wife and I don't like the irritating loud exhausts that are most bikes theses days, but I am looking for something a bit louder than the stock pipe on my RT Ltd. and I like the look and sound of the Tailgunner, but since the wife rydes with me 95% of the time she needs to be comfortable with it too. I would like to hear/see one up close and have her ryde a bike with one on, so she can tell if it's going to be acceptable noise wise for her.

Lamonster has said the Tailgunner will, "make your ears bleed." So, if you're concerned about noise, I'd say they're not for you. I'd recommend the Two Brothers muffler. I have one on my Spyder and it has a nice rumble without being excessive. Also, if you find the stock sound too loud :yikes:, they make 'power tips' that will reduce the volume by up to 8 db.

I went with the two brothers exhaust it is louder than the stock exhaust but not at all overwhelming. For what its worth i'm very happy with the sound as is my wife.

I agree with Ron, the Yoshimura is a great exhaust. We have the Yoshi on our RT. We also have the Akrapovic on our ST-S and it is in the same league as the Yoshimura.

Not true..!!

to sound but close. U-tube has most all the pipes and you can get an idea of the sounds. One thing to remember is a quick rap on the throttle is not the same as 100 miles on the road...good luck..!!

I just got 1 today waiting to put on too hot right now, I currently have the yosh on it sounds good but I wanted to get a little louder.i talked to the owner at tailgunner he told me its loud can't wait to get it on.if I like I will be selling my yosh for 200.00 pd 450 its only 1yr old now..have a rts2011.

Tailgunner is a little louder than the Yoshimura x 100. To each his own...

hmmmm well now that changes everything.. from what I have seen it's not that bad, but again only blipping does not tell a lot. The guys at Tailgunner told me they have a new model coming out in about 3 weeks called the "International" and he is supposed to be sending me a video.. I just want something that gets rid of the "sewing machine" sound the stock exhaust makes.. all the two brothers I have heard are way too loud too, but maybe they have the "sooped" up version . has anyone seen/tried or know anything about this one? http://www.spyder1attitude.com/Spyder-RT.html this was the first one I ever found that I liked the sound of

Please post the video of that new Tailgunner model when you get it.

There may be a 'Quiet' tail gunner version. But the ones I've heard are as loud as any.

Here is my memory of the pipes and sound level. Feel free to disagree because I've not heard these in a 'Sound-Off' competition to give a more accurate assessment.

Agonizingly Quiet - Stock exhaust
Mild-Moderate - 2013 stock Akrapovic
Moderate - Yoshimura
Loud Moderate - Hindle - SuperTrapp (Adjustable)
Loud - 2 Brothers - HMF
Really Loud - Straight Pipe - TailGunner

I wasn't going to say anything about this exhaust because everyone has their angle and that's fine. But it bothers me when a company says things that just don't add up. I'm not saying this isn't a great product. Just that I don't see how it can be everything at the same time.

'This glasspack muffler does NOT have to be repacked after so many miles, like many other glasspack mufflers.'

Every Glass Pack Muffler ever made has to be re-packed at some interval. Some packing lasts longer than others, but none last forever. What I am hoping they mean here is that their glass pack does not need to be re-packed as often as some.

Secondly, many quality mufflers base their repacking schedule on the muffler being raced. Most will go much further with the kind of riding we do on our Spyder's. So you shouldn't necessarily be put off by a relatively short repack recommendation. My Yoshimura has gone about 20k before needing a repack.

'Does not require any re-mapping of the computer, a juicebox nor a O2 modifier!'

Ok, I can go with this except for the next claim which I do not think fits the mold.

'Keeps your engine running cooler, better mpg, more power.'

For all of this to happen the exhaust has to be less restrictive. This allows the exhaust to exit more quickly and a bigger intake volume to enter the cylinder. But this will also tend to lean out the fuel mixture. Like most vehicles produced today, our Spyder runs very lean to start with. Changing the exhaust to a more free flowing condition will increase this lean condition. Without a reliable method of enriching the fuel mix, you can have issues.

With any intake/exhaust modification you should be prepared to do the job right. If it needs a fuel management system it's best to get a good one. If the exhaust is louder and improves exhaust flow then there is a good chance you'll need some form of fuel modification.

my biggest problem is that up where I live I "think" that I have the heaviest modded bike in British Columbia Canada and a good chunk of the Pacific Northwest. We like to visit Spyder dealers when we tour and when we drop into most of them they have never seen anything like it and out come the cameras and question and answer sessions, so it's hard to see/hear a lot of things because no one has done it here yet. we are a sort of "unofficial R&D" for our local dealer, as for a management system I don't even know where to start

The Power Commander with Auto-Tune is really the best way to go. It isn't cheap but it works very well. There are less expensive options also.

Hiya Pal!
Peeking over the fences in here again?? :D
(I PROMISE that I'm getting a shipping cost for you today!)

I just bought the HMF for my wife's GS. Of all the exhausts out there I would say the HMF has the lowest tone out there. We looked at all the videos and we both agreed that the sound was not too loud and had that low rumble. Higher pitched exhausts will grate on your nerves after a while. My buddy has the Hindle and he finds the pitch too high.

i have a friend who put a tailgunner on his bike and he hates it . they require a lot of maintanance.after a certain amount of time, they will quit spinning. they will need to be rebuilt. he put a double set on and half the time one spins and one wont...i wouldnt recomend these pipes but see if you can get some other opinions///
