• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tail of the Dragon....

Did it on our HD Ultra.......while clenching teeth the whole time. :gaah:Once is enough for us!

Dragon

Did it this past September with 96 (?) other spyders from Lamont's BBQ. IT WAS AWESOME!!! And I'm from the flatlands. Would do it again!

I've done it several times, both two and three wheels, and I'm sure I'll do it again. With that said I much prefer the "sweepers" versus the "twisties". I can see a lot more of the scenery with the sweepers.

Chris

I just got back from a trip up there and enjoyed the Dragon, Cherohala and a number of other roads all for the 2nd time for my Spyder - can't wait to do it again. New Elka's made a difference for sure but I really noticed the difference when riding home through the 40 kt wind with gusts, thanks to Sandy ...

I think it is all a matter of where you're used to.

I rode the Dragon this fall.
I'm sure I didn't set any kind of record at all.
Having driven the back roads of Western PA and West Virginia all my life, the Dragon seemed pretty toothless to me.

It may be tame to you but it's anything but toothless.

I have ridden it 4 times.On my ST1300,Goldwing and RT.I have enjoyed it every time.A fun ryde.:ohyea::yes:

I have an alaternative If any of you are headed up Alaska way. I will be happy to direct you to Hatchers Pass. It is eleven plus miles and over 95 tight curves and sweepers. The scenery is breathtaking and you can see for miles as you are enjoying the alpine tundra above the tree line.

The last time we drove it, we shared the ride with less than ten cars over the whole distance.
Not as dangerous or as populated as you will find on the Dragon, but a ride worth taking if you come up my way. I drive this one several times a year.

Hope to see some of you next year.

I really enjoyed to ride The Dragon when I went to Lamonster's BBQ, somehow I went into déjà vu mode, as it reminded me of a mountain road I used to ride to get to a farm I had in Venezuela.
Most every weekend I would take the road through Parque Nacional Guatopo (Guatopo National Park) on my Yamaha Teneré and later on my BMW 1200GS to get to the other side of the mountain range.
It was a narrow winding road through lush subtropical jungle, steep cliffs with no guard rails, no cellphone signal, no road assistance, very little traffic and crazy fauna. Also, no speed-limit and no cops, so real good sense was a good practice every time.
I don't think I'll ride Guatopo again, but I'll be back for more Dragon as soon as I can 😊

331 curves....11 miles....:bowdown:smoky

Umm ... Did someone go out there and add more curves? Now I'll have to change all my patches, coffee cup, t-shirts and decals that say 318 curves in 11 miles ;)

Lessee ... Summer 2009 out of Chattanooga, TN (on two wheels with friends)
Summer 2011 out of Maggie Valley, NC (Spyder Event - See vids)
Summer 2012 out of Maggie Valley, NC (TrikeTalk.com Trike Rally).

Think I'll take a break for 2013 unless something new is happening. I plan on ryding from central Maryland up onto US Hwy 6 across Northern PA, down through the Allegheny State Forest, over to the Delaware Water Gap and back. 850 mile trip ... a few twisties but mostly beautiful rustic highway and panoramic sweepers.

I agree--route 6 across northern PA is a beautiful road--not the dragon--but a great biker road. Enjoy!

I love the dragon. First time I rode it I was on my Hayabusa (see avatar pic). Next time was on my Interceptor. Now I'm trying to convince wiffey to take the Spyder. So far, she doesn't see the thrill in all that! :banghead:

THIS is why I'm moving South once I dump the house and business! :2thumbs:
I'm with Sparks; all of those training runs on our backroads up here... or is this pride gonna get me in trubble? :roflblack:
