• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

switch se5 controls from left to right?

I am close to purchasing my first Spyder. I am an amputee and missing my left arm. I want to get a 2008 se5 but the gear controls are on the left side. Is it possible to switch the electronic mechanism from the left to the right side?

First off, there are a lot of guys on this site that are very talented with mods, and I don't claim to be one of them. But I have an 08 SE5, so I went out and looked over the situation and played with it a bit. I am very confident that this could be done. The cables look like a fairly easy switch. The more difficult part looks like the control/gear switching unit. One possibilty is to move it to the right side and turn it upside down. That could be an easier option than rebuilding the whole thing. I was trying it with my right hand while facing the handlebars from the opposite side and it wasn't bad at all. You may want to pose your question on the enabled section of this site. Good luck, let us know what you end up doing.

I just looked at my SO's SE5 and...

if you are running 3 or 4 inch NMN or customdynamics bar risers like she is... I see no reason you can't move it from left to right. Like another poster said you would probably want to turn it upside down. The upside down position would put the controls close to your thumb for shifting. Also you would need to have a bolt go through the hole in the riser with an attachment rod to hold the control unit underneath the existing control unit. The shape would be similar to a block or square "S" shape. If you know someone with a small home machine shop that is willing. Initially it would be trial an error to begin with but it should be a straight forward but time consuming project./ken
