• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Switch Panel removal

I would like to remove the bank of switches on the wifes RT so I can putone in the middle blank spot. I have a couple lights I want to add, and put them on the new switch.

Do I have to pull all body panels????

Is there a "Manual" for a 2011 RT available anywhere???

I have some abilities, but the owners manual leaves much to be desired when it come to pictures and step by step tech stuff...

Thanks
Gordo

There is a manual avail. Through your dealer, mine cost me 125.00 and it helps if you do any work

This is not much fun! You do have to remove both mirrors and deflectors, and the front side panels. Then you have to remove the eire glove box, which is a little more complicated than you might think. Be aware that a matching rocker switch will need the round hole under the blank cover enlarged to a rectangle to fit. A round switch is unlikely to fit in the large hole, but it may be possible.

I bought the 2010 RT manual from Green Manuals. What you get is a DVD to run on your computer. When your payment clears they will email you the manual to download while you are waiting for the DVD. It is in PDF over 600 pages and includes the trailer.

If I had to do it I wouldn't remove the switches.
You may want to try this:
Remove the topside panel (like an oil change as outlined in the Operator's Guide)
Pry up the middle switch blank.
Feed the wires through until you find them pushing out.
Place the switch into the existing round hole using the switch blank as the mount.

But that still is a bunch of work.

I was thinking of doing that, then figured if I break something in the process of prying the blank off, she will kill me! It will be slow and painful, without a doubt.
I ordered the Green Manual, and may just wait for it to show before I attempt anything that could cause me pain.
The biggest problem is that I ride a Harley, why am I messing with HER Spyder????? Oh yea, I'm fixing it.

i did it, sorta

was able to get the new switch in without the dreaded removal of glove box. Only took 2 stitches:(. Anyway, aside from the switch being a tik off, the set up looks good, and the lights work.
If I can figure out how to add pics, I will.

Wife is happy, and I will live to see another day
