• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Switch in glove box. 2011 RTS

Easy Rider

New member
In the front side of the glove box near the top, there is a black block with a push button switch.
It appears to be a "push on, push off" type.
I can not find any reference to this in the OM.
It looks like a factory item.......but maybe the previous owner was just VERY good at fabrication.
Anybody know what this is ??

:dontknow: as in glove box you mean right in front of the seat?, or rear trunk? mine up front just has the styrofoam heat shield liner, when I pulled it out, nothin. Mine is a 2010RTS, maybe he did good fabrication for:dontknow::popcorn:

Yes.
I may be new to this Spyder stuff but I know the difference between a "glove box" and a "trunk" (after sorting through a LOT of posts).

So I guess it is NOT a factory stock item.
SIGH.
Need to twist on the dealer a bit more to get some information from the previous owner.

THIS is why I dislike undocumented, non-standard modifications so much.
I should NOT have to tear my new bike all apart to figure out what the previous owner changed under there.

Taking it all apart is half the fun of ownership,
that is one of the best ways to learn about how things work
and how to access them. happy exploring.

.
This is true.
Or at least it certainly WAS true 50 years ago when I first started riding.
It is much less true now.

I guess the fact that I will be getting a shop manual probably means that I haven't completely gotten over the "let's see what's under the hood" syndrome.

:D Happy hunting!

And remember: you bought the bike... but nobody made you buy the bike... nojoke
It's just another adventure.

Sorry, ST's do not have glove box's. Try posting in the RT forum.

.
Aw crap. Sorry.

Problem solution is in progress.
Taking the whole machine apart and ripping out dead wires, lights and switches......that previous owner had cut and left in place.
:banghead:
