• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

sway bar

I know "how hard" is quite subjective BUT how hard do you have to ride to make the investment in the sway bar really worth the cost?

Are you going to notice it just cruizin around OR do you need to be riding it like you stole it or somewhere inbetween.

I have always liked sliding my butt off the side to distribute the weight in hard turns (its just plain fun) Does it take away that need and if so does it do that to a point where sliding off the side gives a negative effect?

I have never really had an issue with body roll and never have had a front wheel off the ground.

It just sounds to me like I would not personally benefit from it to the point where I see a night and day difference like some report. I think I am probably compensating for the body roll by sliding off but thats the fun part for me.

Sway bar helps in all cases except for turns at slow speed...don't notice a difference there. Doesn't change the way you ride but makes tight turns a LOT easier

Sway Bar

I have ridden fairly aggressive with the stock sway bar and the Evoluzione. The EVO is definitely better, the only problem is that the stability control will kick in long before you can utilize it to it's full potential. Forget about accelerating hard while you're hanging off in mid-corner.

$230 worth of improvement?

I just put the EVO sway bar on yesterday. Easy install, even with having to remove the nose. I have it set to the firm position using the inner bolt positions. I have the latest version of the bar that has some additional bends that eliminate the need for the extra bushings that (try to) keep the stock bar from shifting side to side.

I definately feel a positive difference in all driving situations. I just returned from a hard run thru the twisties near where I live. It stayed flatter in the turns, and I was able to go thru the turns a few mph faster (this is a regular speed route for me).

I just don't know if it's $230 (+ tax and shipping) worth of difference.

I have the EVO sway bar and consider it a good option (not my best option, but good). The sway bar does in fact give you more stability in hard corners and does make you feel more secure. I don't regret the purchase; However, it does not perform any miracles, just a modest improvement. IMHO.

Combining the sway bar with increasing the shock pre-load is a nice improvement. The shocks are definitely a weak point on the Spyder and the next addition for me will be something aftermarket. Penske or ??? Many people have no problem spending cash on the go fast part but then forget the brakes and suspension. Compared to most motorcycle accessories the swaybar is reasonable in price and worth the effort. BTW you do not have to remove the trunk. Leave the top bolts loose and the bottom of the trunk moves far enough from the suspension to allow for the install.

I'm a big guy - 6'5" & 280#. For me, the difference was huge. You have to set up a bike just for you and the way you ride.

with the combination of wasy bar and the penske shocks it is a new beast

now i am going to put 255/45 r15 sticky tires all the way around and it will handle like a real sports car

is it worth the 230 bucks?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when you first get it, you will be like "i spent 230 dollars on this piece of metal?" but once you put it on you will say yes.:2thumbs: unless of course you don't like or never take corners or curves reasonably hard...

i consider this to be my best mod for spyder.
after i took the sway bar off, my wheels lifted up so much even on a routine right turns at the speed i was used to making, it took me a while to get used to stock sway bar again.
