Sway Bar Help on a Saturday.

I have a question to anyone that has installed a Evoluzione Cyclesports Can-Am Sway Bar on a SE5 2009

I followed the instruction to remove all the parts, replaced the old sway bar with the new one and now that I am ready to put the front compartment back on, I find that the new sway bar is slightly larger then the old one and has a different bend in it which allows it to protrude farther forward, about 1/2 inch.

The problem I am having is that with the bar protruding a little farther I can no longer set the compartment in place to reattach the lower two compartment 10mm Bolts. It (the Bar) runs into the luggage compartment.

I called Evoluzione but of course its Saturday and they are unavailable.

Anyone had this problem or have an idea what the cure might be?

I just installed mine Wednesday without taking the frunk off just loosening the top screws, removing the bottm screws and tilting out.I just looked at mine and the frunk is tight against the swaybar but I have it tightened down.

I had installed mine with no issues. Sorry I don't have any suggestions. :dontknow:

Your photo's looks just like my install.

The problem being when you attempt to put the front luggage compartment on and rotate it down to install the two bolts that hold it in place to the lower frame the same part the you attach the sway bar to, the front of sway bar is the first thing to contact the compartment before the bracket that is attached to the compartment does, and does not fit flush but it leaves about a 1/2" gap There seems to be a very close fit around these parts at least on my bike.

The original sway bar as you know is straight across and does not have the forward hump in it, so I know if I put the original back on it would just drop into place., and my guess is that the clearance would be almost nil between the original and the compartment.

I thought there might be a forward and back adjustment on the compartment on its barracks but I don't think so from what I can see.

I just removed the bar and reversing the ends just in case It has a different fit reversed, but no go it is symmetrical.

It would not be simple thing to get a picture of.

Installing the sway bar went well up to step 13, re install the front compartment, that is were my problem begins. It just will not fit with the new sway bar installed. I will wait until Monday and see if Evoluzione has any ideas. Thanks all.

Man... I don't know what to tell you. I just put my trunk back on the spyder after having the whole front end torn down....Trunk went on fine. + I have the same sway bar.

Make sure it isn't your 12volt socket pushing up against the front frame that is making things out of wack like on mine.

Otherwise, the only challenge I had putting my trunk back on was getting the front bumper/skidplate assembly bolted back up to the nose of the trunk... Had to loosen where the bumper assembly mounts near the sway bar and that made it easy... re-tighten when finished.

So... net of it is... and I'm not trying to be rude... I think the problem is PIBMAS. "Problem is between mechanic and Spyder"

Thanks for the suggestions.

I do not have a 12 volt socket installed on this bike.

I guess, I am missing something. Time will tell.

If you don't mind me mentioning...

One thing to note is if you need to take your front compartment off again, you don't need to remove the front spoiler or skid plate, just the six 10mm bolts that hold the compartment on, it lifts off as a unit.

:agree:Thats how I did mine using a large screwdriver after the bottom trunk bolts were removed prying the trunk foward a little and swinging the new anti-sway bar into place. You may want to put everything back together and try it our way.

Figured out what I was doing wrong. instead of trying to fit the compartment in one fitting, top and bottom, the simple solution was to first attach the two outer bolts at the top of the compartment, and then swing the hold unit in place. It dropped in like it was made to fit. I guess I needed to keep it simple.

Thanks for all the help

Now as soon as the rain stops which has been coming down for two days now and forecast for another two I will get a chance to try this sway bar out. Looking forward to flatter turns, I hope.

Your right I did find out a few things, and I know were all the grease nipples are now, at least the eight of them on the front suspension.
