• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'd say from what I read here and my own experience 12k is about right. I don't burnout often either, and my 10k tire is starting to really show the wear. Fronts look great. I am expecting 15k on them. And I'd have to say even 10k is good wear for a motorcycle tire.

Changed mine at 11,000 and I never do burn outs. I believe that tire wear is very much relative to the road surfaces you ride on. I seem to be seeing more and more surfaces with the rough finish for car traction when wet...chews tires up like crazy.

Cost covers all the spectrum. If you go OEM, I once paid $225 installed for our first Spyder. Haven't replaced again with OEM. The one on the RT is a BFG G-Force 225/50/15. About $130 plus installation, but I expect no less than 20,000+ miles from it. It is hard composition and multiple plies on the walls and treads.
 
That's easy... What do you expect to be replacing it with?? I've seen OEMs anywhere from $80 up to $150... :shocked: I don't know why the disparity! :gaah:
I went non-OEM for about $80.... Now as for labor; :yikes: I don't know yet but the suspense is starting to make me a bit jumpy!
 
Probably go with the OEM. Also, depends what the dealer wants to "deal" me out the door ?

I just arranged to have mine replaced during my 15K service, and I still have at least another 1K left on the tire. I've had Ride-On in all my tires and I believe it has extended their useful life considerably.
 
We replaced ours at 11K, and there wasn't much left on it. Most of the riding was 2-up. The tire was worn bare in the middle, indicating that 30# was probably too much pressure to run in it.
 
The mileage is about right. I have replaced three rear tires on both GS and RTS models. The mileage was between 12-14K. I do not ride agressively.

Also lots of talk on the site about OEM VS. other tires. I have used the OEM tires on all of my tire changes.
 
My rear has 15,000 miles and I see another 3,000 at least in it BUT my fronts (15,000) are going to be changed in about 300 miles.
I must drive backwards?:roflblack:
 
15,000 + on rear tire
21,000 + on front tires

Moderate riding. Front tires 20 lbs. Rear tire 28-30 lbs.
All OEM tires.

Present rear tire 8,000 with little wear showing
Present front tires 3,000 with lots showing (due to improper allignment when first purchased.

All OEM tires.

At 25000 on front looking good.these were both OEM tires
At 25000 on rear just put another one on,13000. Kept the first ones at30psi, 24000 changed the secound one keep the air at 25psi per the shop. they both showed the w/bar in the center.I am think of going to a car tire on the next one. Oh I run 28psi in my fronts,I have them rotated every 5000 mi.

To much air is so right !! I only put 24 psi and have talked to guys that put less. I did check the rear pressure after a long ride with two up and it was at 27 psi hot so that means it is normal heat build up. If I was using to low a pressure it would have been higher. I never tied anything less but time will tell how my tire wears.
 
I replaced my Rear with an OEM Tire at 12,000, cost was $150 for Tire and $120 to change.
I just replaced the rear again at 24,000, went to a Kumho AST, which has been highly recommended on other threads here, cost was $64 + $18 Freight from TireRack.com, change out by dealer was still $120. The Kumho is supposed to wear much longer and with about 1,000 miles on it seems to be doing an outstanding job.:clap::clap:
I'm still running the original OEM tires on front and still have about 1/3 tread left.
An independent Repair shop has quoted me $75 to change out the rear tire but I have never had anyone but my dealer touch my baby.
 
almost the same, exact circumstances. the OEM rear seems to be a softer compound than most; which is great for traction, but not so great for longevity. this issue IS being seriously looked at by Cam Am. we may see some changes down the road...
 
With the snow coming, I've hammered in some thick nails in the center of the rear tire tread for extra traction. Voila....studded snow tire!!!!! I am finding, however, that I seem to have to put air in the tire on a daily basis. I've even had to resort to riding with a scuba tank on my back for long trips with a custom air nozzle attached.
