There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I had thought about doing that last year, but bought a used BRP Shorty shield instead. The air feels great and have never re-installed the stock shield. Even in winter I just raise the shorty and it works fine. Have never understood the buy the barn door shields that block all the air. If you dont want to feel the wind, drive your car.
I have the F4 windshield on my F3s and its adjustable by 2". I lower it for giggles then raise it because the weather "might" be warm enough.....then it gets cold fast. I would not even think of removing it because of the temp variances. Its like my Baker Lowers, I was thinking of removing them for the summer, then I ride in the cold/rain and thank goodness they are on. My thoughts.

I would just be concerned about the windshield struts flopping around loose... :shocked:

When a June Bug hits your visor at speed: it sounds about like taking a baseball bat to the side of the head! :shocked:
You've got June Bugs & Love Bugs, we've got Christmas Beetles!! https://australianmuseum.net.au/image/washerwoman - this variation of them is often 20mm plus in length.... & they are SOLID little buggers too!! Cop one of them head on in the windshield when you're travelling at 80mph & the windshield bloody well knows it's been hit!!:yikes: If it survives!! Good thing the Spyder w/screen is made of the right sort of stuff, many windscreens (& headlights or driving lights) aren't bulletproof & so don't survive! :shocked:

I am not a fan of looking through sheilds on motorcycles. Like my modular helmet so when stuck on freeways at high speeds I can close it. Only bugs I have encounterd here are bees (hit and stung several times) the odd grasshopper (they are solid) and an assortment of others I do not recognize but not enough of them or often enough to want to lose the open air ryding. I do have a flip on the shield to direct the flow when on the freeway or backroads...to each his own...:thumbup:

I ran into a woman last winter who was riding her RT without a windshield as the bracket had broken. We got her a new bracket and she's back to riding with a windshield. The RT looks pretty weird without a shield!
I purchased a used tinted shorty windshield that was taken off a 15 RTS SS with the thoughts of switching to it in the summer. I never installed it so I sold it. The shorty didn't have the cutouts like the stock windshield on the 14 and newer and that, to me, makes a huge difference in air flow.

windshield removal/modification
I have modified my windshield by drilling four new mounting holes and replacing the mounting screws with studs and crown nuts. It takes 2 minutes to change either way. The holes are 7 inches above the stock holes and offer a 4.8" drop in the windshield. Windshield up in the lower mounting holes is 1.6'' lower than stock all the way up. I now have plenty of air when really hot and wind protection when I prefer it. First pic is lowered windshield in "up" position, second is lowered windshield in "down" position, third is stock windshield in down position.
