• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Suggestions needed

I am hoping someone could give me some suggestions. My dealer installed my quick connect for my battery tender in the frunk area of my 2013 ST Limited. I am concerned that if I leave the frunk open, mice will get in and chew or make nests in my Spyder. If I close the frunk on the cord, I worry that it won't be good for the cord or the seal of the frunk. Is there anything that any of you do to keep mice away when storing your Spyders?

Take a look at your wheel wells. They are wide open and lead back into the engine compartment; all under the bodywork. If you do have a mice problem, you need to find a way to deal with it here. Your frunk is the least of your problems as the mice are more likely to go inside the bodywork where they can build a nest hidden away. The frunk is just a big hole with no place to hide.

I say put some old fashion mice traps with PP under the bike. 2-3 should do. Any mouse that gets snagged will serve as warning to the others that come near the Spyder...

In case I haven't mentioned this already :opps:...
I DON'T cover my bike for storage. It makes for a nice dark, secluded place for crawly-critters to hide. :yikes:
I wouldn't set the traps near the bike; draw them AWAY from it!

:agree: Keep a poorly-fed (thus; well-motivated!) cat in the garage!

Ever had a cat sit on your seat and "knead" it's claws for awhile... it can really ruin your day even faster than mice!

About a week after I had all the seats in my jet boat re-upholstered with "dolphin-skin" marine vinyl (luxuriosuly soft stuff that!), some cat decided to get in and try out the new upholstery... had to have 2 seat cushions redone again! It has a tight fitting thick cover over the boat now to keep cats out (I still find cat fur all over the cover, and I don't own a dang cat even!).

Be very careful when using poisens of any kind, you have very little control what else might get hold of that stuff and eat it! Plus, you might start to notice a stink and cannot find the source... not good that either!

Dryer sheets and/or mothballs are safer deterrant to rodents... unless you have a pet rat snake you can let loose? :dontknow:

I'm told many animals will avoid areas treated with synthetic coyote urine (which humans cannot smell), available at your local feed store. In fact any feed store probably will have several products available to repel rodents safely! Go ask.

Mothballs are nasty and they smell awful. I would just shut the cord. If it is a good cord it won't matter to pinch it a tiny amount. The rubber will compress anyway. I also hate to smell Bounce sheets. I also don't like fabric softener in my clothes. I guess I just like plain smells. Except when it comes to diesel smoke. I think I would buy that smell if they made an air freshener. It stems from my grandfather carrying me when i was 6 or 7 on his tractor to cut firewood. I always loved to go with him. He would start his International tractor and it would smell great. Maybe that is what is wrong with me now that I think about it...:joke:

Remember; it's not about us liking or disliking the smells...
It's about the varmints NOT liking the smells that matters!

I don't care much for diesel; but I do like the smell of a good, active barnyard...
And oddly enough ; a slight whiff of skunk in the air is kind of to my liking also!

NO!!!!!! Skunks only spray when they're alarmed... I jist dig around a bit in the dirt, and break off some Pine boughs
(You don't want your game animal wondering what upset the skunk; do you?)

If you have a rodent problem on your property, you might consider hiring an exterminator co.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I appreciate all of the help. I am trying the bait and Peppermint oil for now. This is just a precaution, as my Harley had the quick connect under the seat and I just don't like the idea of having the frunk open.

We do not have a rodent problem on our property. I have a 21 acre farm and when you live in the country, you will have an occasional mouse (or two):yikes:
