There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Suggestions for towing a Spyder to NJ?

Hello again everyone. Looks like our trip driving the Spyder back to NJ may be shot down. Because of business we may have to get back quicker than we thought. :gaah: Now we are trying to find a way to get the Spyder back. Unfortunately, our car is now back in Jersey. I called U-Haul and in order to tow the Spyder you have to rent a 10 foot truck plus an open carrier to tow it from the back of the truck. Needless to say, renting both is very expensive. Has anyone had any experience with this before? Any other companies that will let you tow trailers that will carry the Spyder? :dontknow: If anyone knows of any rental companies at all that will let you do this with a smaller truck or vehicle, please let me know. Thanks!

I am in the same situation. I had hoped of putting inside a Dodge Sprinter van. NOTE: Door width is wide enough; but the bottom corners are curved, not 90 degree angles. This takes away +3" of door width.

I went to Uhaul and got an open trailer - for my 10 day trip it's gonna be $360!!! WTF???

I should've planned ahead and bought one, instead.

Good luck!

As far as renting the trailer from U-haul goes, ask them if there are any discounts. I received a quote from U-haul for an open trailer of $226.00. You have to ask them for discounts. After speaking to them for a while they end up discounting. The original price they gave me for the truck and trailer was over $1,000.00! I got them down to $723.40. That is using a 10 foot truck to tow. We don't have anything to put in a 10 foot truck! Seems like a waste. What really stinks about this whole ordeal is that back in Jersey we have a truck to tow and also a trailer! Wish we could beam it down here. :roflblack:

Measure carefully before you put any money on a U-Haul trailer. From what has been said here, none are wide enough at the rear opening for the Spyder.

I used uship.com and paid 284 bucks when it was like 600-800 with typical moto transport co. And oneway uhaul was $224 plus tax and fuel. I was going to roll the spyder on to truck using couple of 2"x4" parallel to ramp and put a plywood over it make wider ramp.

Thanks to one of member here I posted my load and a hauling truck coming back with empty enclosed trailer to los Angeles anyway bid low and worked out well.

UShip.com
I and neighbors have used it to ship my Spyder, tractors, farm equipment, corvette, etc. Just do your homework and save some major cash.
