Suggestions for next year

Not Maggie Valley

As pretty as MV is, that is not a friendly biker community when you get wiht the locals and hear what they have to say. Why go to a meet if vendors are not allowed to be part of it.

I absolutely agree about having a reception the night before with the band, and then follow the next morning with organized and well planned rides the next day. Cuba (CowTown) was fantanstic - great model to use. :agree:

Do you have any suggestions for next years owners event??? A couple come to mind for me. Start registration and clothing tent earlier in the day. Have the band play on Friday night. As former band members, it's not much fun playing to an empty tent. I heard comments about door prizes. Anyone else. Lets help make the next one better. Oh, PLEASE, keep it civil.:2thumbs:

It would be nice to have other vendors there, such as electronics, foot pegs, etc. Also if they have techs to install them. My wife and I had a spectacular time!! It's a beautiful area, It is close to my home, so it's great for us. I think that BRP did a great job. Looking forward to next year.

:welcome:

I'm not so sure that coinciding events is such a good idea, but I Absolutely agree on the location.

I'm going to try for the Adirondack event, at least the Friday dinner and the Saturday events.
50,000 Bikers, don't think another 500 spyders would be noticed, besides Roaring Brook Ranch is now available. Americade stopped using it because of the hills and some 2 wheelers having problems. That's were Canam started there demo rides from in previous years. Not a problem for Spyders.

I'd love to have the Owner's Event once again at MV mainly because I'd love to go to the Carolina's AND to Lamont's bbq. The last two years, I didn't own a spyder, this year I do but due to other commitments, I couldn't make it. So I'd like to go at least once. We've heard really great things about Lamont's bbq!!!!!!!!!!

Too far out west and that would knock us out, but IF it's Colorado, SD, NM...it'd be doable for us. We LOVE SD and we've been to Sturgis 3 years in a row (plus we didn't own any kind of bike then either)...of course, we also went the week before the rally and stayed in Rapid City. The roads and countryside are sooooooo beautiful in the Black Hills. LOL A suggestion though...if you do choose SD, please consider having it in June or early July. The prices (in late July and the first two weeks in August) near the Sturgis Rally are WAY out of sight.

My 2 cents.

:agree: We don't want to clash with another event. Not only would you have competition with the other event, you stand the chance of overloading the available facilities, not to mention the traffic issues. And, dare I say, maybe even some dustups.

I can understand why you would want to keep it in North Carolina, but this is where we disagree. I don,t look at it as being two events, but as one made better with is what this thread is about. Your other comments are very funny, but until you know what Lake George and Americade are all about, please do not speculate.

If they moved it to Lake George during Americade, they would have a thousand spyders there. Vendors are already there and just as good of riding as Maggie Valley/Gatlinburg and LOTS more to do. Largest touring event in the country.

:2thumbs: Man Rnet that a great idea ! We would get all kinds of people from Quebec as well, tons of dealers and venders.

I couldn't belive the amount of :spyder2: we saw this year .

Love Americade and some awsome roads to boot .

:agree:I totally agree with Lamont. A rally in the west would go a long way to marketing the Spyder brand west of the Mississippi. Prescott AZ. is a beautiful place and their are some great rides there. Also, a great CanAm dealer is there and Phoenix is less than 80 miles away. Hope BRP considers it.

I'm not neccessarily for keeping it in NC. And I do know what Lake George and Americade are about. Sorry if I upset you.

just an idea

As one of the few Canadians on here I would like to see it maybe in Colorado or Utah as a few others have suggested. It is 2 days closer than the east coast and I have spent a lot of time in both those states and the riding is endless with maybe some of the most beautiful scenery in the America's. Maybe Glenwood Springs it's a small town with enough hotels and the riding there is awesome, also Aspen is just south about 20min and if you can afford to eat there it is a great place for scenery. Just a thought it really is a great place. I will make time next summer no matter where it is to attend.

I think moving it around is a good thing...so far...hollywood, chicago, maggie valley....colorado, utah....would be great...lamont suggested Montrose, Co. that is a great place...was at the 1st Valk ride-in, I think 1998???? beautiful.....Utah is great also...I really do care...but will ride any where......need more vendors....even if it is off-site.....

Riudoso/Cloudcroft NM area. Lincoln National Forest. Mescalaro Apache reservation with the Inn of the Mountain Gods hotel and casino. Ruidoso Downs quarter horse racing. Use to have the Aspencade motorcycle rally years ago. White Sands National Monument. the Trinity Site where the 1st a-bomb was tested. 12,000 ft. Sierra Blanca Mountain. The town of Lincoln where the range wars were and where Billy the Kid is buried. Carlsbad Caverns an hour away. Oh, and Roswell too. :yikes:

:agree:I have lived in Arizona for 50 years and visited all of the areas that have been mentioned in N.M., Colo., and Utah. The rides out here are great and would make for a great rally.

2012 Spyder Fest

I'm with Lamont on keeping the rally in Maggie Valley. the weather did put a bit of a damper on things; but the area is gorgeous for riding; and the locals are more than used to seeing bike roll through, and welcome it.

now... something I'd like to see is... vendors. BRP/Can Am does not have the market share on accessories and clothing for Spyder Riders. some of the awards given, were as a result of owners moding out their rides with aftermarket items. so it only make sense to "invite" the vendors that cater to Spyders. I took a very unofficial poll of several owners, that were VERY disappointed about a lack of vendor presence. bike riding is not a monopoly market. but the cross over from two to three wheels is something that takes a very concerted market approach.

if BRP/Can Am wants to see even more enthusiasm about Spyders...; give the owners the chance to see what owners have done to their bikes, them give them the instant outlet of buying those accessories at the next owners event. other companies have been doing it for years; and this is something that would be a win/win scenario for everyone concerned.

until Can Am expands it's accessory line to a larger degree... owners will find the items they want, where ever they can find them. and a collaboration between BRP/Can Am and quality aftermarket vendors will allow owners to see and feel the items available to trick out their rides; instead of doing it all on line.

all of the vendors listed on this site home page, should be seriously considered; plus a few more. :2thumbs:

I could go for that as well. Ruidosa is a great little area that not many have heard of. Many years ago, I learned to ski there at Sierra Blanca when I lived in El Paso.

thoughts for next year

I really :D the CanAm shirt I bought in Maggie Valley, but I would have loved :ohyea:an event tee shirt.
