• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Suggestion please.....

I want a passenger back rest for my wife. I looked at BRP - nice stuff but, with the rack and back rest we are talking like $800.!! Also looked at Spydernest - a little less expensive but, I am not thrilled with the way it looks - don't think it really blends with the bike.

Any place else to look?

Thanks for any feedback.

You could consider a backrest with some storage--a topcase from Givi with the optional backpad. The e460, or the 52L Maxia or the new V46 would provide good extra storage and a secure back rest also. On the GIVI stuff, the Monolock cases are not quite as strong as the Monokey variety, should stick with that line rather than the monolock range. Givi lists a topcase rack for the spyder on their website, I believe they're supposed to start shipping in early December. Good used cases show up at good prices on ebay from time to time.

The Hepco Becker (german) cases are also extaordinarily well made, but I don't believe they offer a Spyder rack just yet.

There are some chinese copies of the Givi stuff. Thin plastic, reports of poor durability. I'd stay away from them.

There is also the corbin seat with backrest that I read is pretty comfortable. But you will still be in the $800 range.

I know it's expensive. But, the BRP Sport Rack/ Backrest System is really, really nice; especially if you are staying with the stock seat. Also; the backrest is adjustable. It's a neat package. And, it looks fantastic! :) And, when not carrying a passenger, I remove the backrest, and install the plate. Very slick!

:agree:

My wife feels very secure and comfortable with the BRP back rest.

I paid about $600 for both rack & rest. Suggest you check other dealers.

$500 for the BRP system is a great price! I guess, I paid $650 at the time of purchase w/free installation.

Some of the other options out there look flimsy, and a bit cheap to put on the Spyder, in my opinion. You get what you pay for. If you pay $250 for a backrest system, that's about what it looks like, too.
