• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Stuck parking brake

Is there some type of release for the parking brake? My grandson stepped on it instead of the foot peg of my RS. :helpsmilie:

Push down by hand on the pedal to relieve presser, then carefully while holding down put your finger or better yet a screwdriver in the cam and push down on the cam to release it.

:agree:

You can also try to give it a quick step down and let off, like you are kicking it and that should get it to release. It is a good idea to spray some lubricant on the cam and spring behind the body panel every once in a while to keep the pedal moving freely as well.

In addition it may be a good idea to adjust or have someone adjust THE parking brake to help avoid this in the future. Over normal wear on the parking brake mechanics, more clicks and more downward motion may be needed to engage the brake. Not sure how many clicks you have on the peddle, currently, but I've found between 1-4 clicks is a good safe and hopefully trouble free setting which should release without problems.

Hope that helps.

Several quick step down and let off usually gets me out of the 'jam". But sometimes it took much more than several :cus: and that's when I got it replaced under the recall.

Having someone push down on the regular foot brake, while you "pop" the park brake pedal quickly with your foot. It sometimes helps. If that doesn't work, have someone work the park brake pedal while you release the pawl under the footpeg with a screwdriver. Do not get your fingers in the way!!!

I'd suggest that after you free things up, that you clean the mechanism under the footrest thoroughly, and spray it liberally with WD-40. Then adjust the cable (and move the lever on the spline if necessary), so the brake engages fully with just one or two clicks. Parking brakes that are out of adjustment don't hold as well, and are more likely to stick in the locked position.
