Stuck in gear

I know I read this on this forum but it happen to me for the first time. After reading what to do I did not panic and call a wrecker to pick the Spyder up but turn it off waited bout three minutes and every thing was fine.

Went to the dealer to discuss the ground wire fix it (also read this in forum) and the technician just happen to have something from BRP citing the ground fix. Now the dealer wants to charge me to install the fix. After my blood pressure went back down I then went back in to have a civil conversation with technician. He said they had not had permission as a fix from BRP. Does anyone have a techinical phone number for BRP So I can report this so I can see why doesn't their dealer can fix what I veiw as a warranty fix.

By the way Spyder is 2009 SE5 red like my face was when he told me I had to pay for fix. Any ideas to get this done. Only problem here in Grand Junction nearest dealer from here is probably Denver four hours away.

It is definitely warranty, have your dealer call the BRP tech line for a I am 100% sure.

I may be wrong but, to me, the two ground wire fix is only about $5 in materials and 15 minutes labor. Its too bad your dealer is risking bad customer relations over a relatively small thing. Of course, they are in business to make money and they can't be doing work for free. :dontknow: I hope this somehow works out for you.

He didn't know anything about it when I called but when I showed up he said he had checked with BRP and they told him unless there was an issue they wouldn't approve a warranty fix so the dealer would not do it under warranty. However since you had an issue they certainly should perform this "fix".
Personally I don't see why they don't do these things as preventive maintance to avoid these problem and the consequent bad feelings.

:agree: Bottom line here is that your Spyder has a problem. It is under warranty. Don't tell them how to fix it, just insist that they do so. Explain that if they charge you for warranty repairs there will be legal consequences. If it is at all possible, I would search out another dealer. This one sounds like a bad apple.
