• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Strong gas smell

I love my RT but am having issues with the strong smell of gas. I called the dealer and they said it is normal especially when it is first filled and around the 1/2 point. The fumes get so bad I get a headache, and my garage reeks for at least an hour after i ride.

There are no leaks that I can discern, and the gas cap fits snuggly. Is this indeed " normal for a spyder," as I was told?

NO EFFING WAY.

You shouldn't be smelling any gas unless you spilled some. You may have a vapor leak in the carbon canister.

Was I too subtle. You shouldn't be smelling gas.

I no longer have a gas smell. The dealership told me that when they are new they are burning off "something", sorry I don't remember what he called it, but they said every time they move around the spyders in their showroom floor they have the gas smell occur too. he said it eventually wears off.

I've had the same smell. I've wondered about it too. It's not of a real concern, but my wife certainly doesn't like it. The dealer's comment that it's new and burning something off to me is a "crock".
I have 4500 miles on mine and it still has that lingering smell.

"Ooooh that smell. Can you tell that smell"

I spoke to the dealer again

The mechanic stated that the smell is due to the air/gas volume having to adjust (whatever that means?). He said it is most noticeable when you first fill it up, and around the mid tank point-I have found that to be true

I only have 200 mile son it so it is too soon to tell if the smell will go away or at least dissipate. The dealer is going to check it out at the 600 mile service.
