• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I first want to apologies for just coming on this site to just ask questions or just sell something. I know that I have lacked on my social behavior. So I want to say that I am sorry if I have missed all those how you doing, welcome to the site, happy birthday’s, congratulation’s, and I am sorry to hear that. With my hectic life it has been hard to keep up with anything comforting and relaxing time like getting on the computer to catch up. So I thank you for past post that you all have helped me out with. With that said I come to you all with yet another question. Today on this gorgeous sunny day here in my neck of the woods, I took my motorcycle out for what I can consider the longest ride I have ever done. A trip to New Jersey and back to New York that took about 5 hours back and forth with traffic and destination. Anyway I noticed that after getting to New Jersey and then heading back 2 and half hours in. On bumper to bumper traffic I can get a strong sent of gas on my left side vent of my can-am spyder. I could only smell it when I be stopped, but when in motion obviously no smell. This is what I done different recently if it matters and someone can yell at me if need be. It had been a long time since I put in the gas and I couldn’t remember if I used 87 or 93. So I got the 93. And then to get it in my bike being in a wheel chair I had to use a 5 gallon red container, now trying to get it in the bike I spilled a good amount off the side but this was days ago before my run today so I don’t know if I was smelling what got on the pipes. And I know the gas cap was not off because I closed it off when I put that gas in. I am taking it in to my service guy next week but I wanted to come to the experts to get more input before they jerk me around. So tell me family what do you guys think it can be?

I'm going to say it's combination of spilling the gas and very hot weather.
87 or 93 has nothing to do with it they both smell the same.
Some will say if you fill the tank to the very top you'll get the gas odor.
:dontknow: I fill mine to the very top and no gas odor.:dontknow:Some will say have the updates done that will stop the odor,
Didn't have any updates and i don't have an gas odor.

;) ''BUT'' just in case get it checked out.

Thanks yea i had one update done i need the other one and the wire recall has to be done as well.

I smelled gas on mine this afternoon as well. I think it's because I overfilled the gas tank the last time I filled up.

I know there are at least a couple threads on the 'shoptalk' forum.

Many have had the clamps on the fuel filter come loose. I replaced mine with worm gear clamps and no more smell. I also did the canisterectimy which eliminates the canister as the culprit.

Over-filling can do that. We had very strong odor a couple weeks back, then had the fuel vent done, and no more odor. Related? Dunno.

:agree: Get it checked. Then careful when filling.

If you are now getting the gas smell all the time you may have a loose otiker clamp. I had to replace several of them. Have you extend you evap can purge hose to the back?

Since the second update we don't have a gas smell and we always fill ours to the top. Ken krb1945

If you get any heat, it might be the Y gasket...I will be changing mine once I get them in...I had HUGE heat on the right side, some sputtering, and some fumes as well...argh!!

Had the same problem until the second update which was done a month ago. No more fuel smell.:ohyea: Before the update gas smell was very bad when riding in slow traffic (hot weather made it worse).
