• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Strike 3

Uh-oh! Very sorry to hear that, bro. If they will replace the entire wiring harness and any other affected components (ECU?), I would give them another chance. Otherwise, I'd sure look into the lemon laws in AZ. You can't even peddle it to somebody this way.

Guess what happened to me on the way to work...:banghead:

You bought your spyder for fun and relaxation...not for headaches...it's time, as Scotty said, to start looking for ways of getting another bike or getting your money back. I am very sorry to hear this...

IMHO, get the SM5 if you give it another go-around...less to worry about...more fun to ride!

It is an SM5...but I think I want a V-MAX, but will probably end up with my SV again...karma that the dealer never sold it?

The Spyder is such a great ride (when it works). I hate to see you give up on it. There just isn't anything else out there that does what the Spyder does.

There are so many good ones around, and I'll bet it's something minor keeping yours down.

On the other hand, I'd probably be singing another tune if I owned yours. Mine has been in the shop just going on 3 wheeks (Power Steering). But I could at least ride it.

Matter of fact, didn't even know I had a problem until Lamont rode mine and had a fit about how hard it was to steer! With his arms I don't know what he was complaining about anyway!

Mine has been very reliable, no problems at all other than dealer related (which I can't blame on BRP or the Spyder).

I would think you'll need to get the thing fixed at some point to even hope to get your money back out of it. Once it's fixed why not keep it?

Catch 22 I guess.

I am open to discussing options with them(BRP), but the problem is that the Spyder is my only mode of transport. I may consider just a plane ol' FI version with the vss/abs bypassed and seperate front and rear brake master cylinders. I was lucky or blessed the first 2 times, but todays problem made me late for work. I have had this thing since June and problems seem to be increasing in frequency. Once the warranty is up, I won't be able to justify the cost of repair. I also am affraid they will flip-flop and will be less willing to diagnose the problem and quick to throw parts at it at my expense. My dealer is ready to fight BRP, I think they want to drop the Spyder, too many problems and sales are in the tank.

yep and thanks to your post i now know my power steering never worked either there gonna fix mine on the 19th when they get the parts in and replace my brake shoes also since they were recalled.if u wouldnt have posted that post i would have never known mine wasnt working i always thought it was a bit hard to steer the dam thing, i just thought that was the way to was. Now i cant wait to see what how its gonna drive with it working :), It sucks to here your dilemma on your spyder like i said in a previous post i think they sould stop selling the SE5 and take it back to the drawing board although i do love mine there are just way to many of them that are taking collective craps on dam near everyone that owns one :( ive only had minor probs with mine (knock on fake wood) I sure hope u can get another one using the lemon law sure sounds like that applys in your case :) hope it works out for u.............Michael

What...there's finally a machine that Harley riders can now make reliability jokes about:D
I'd rather push a Harley than limp mode a Spyder

It s time:
Start documenting and ping the above link.
Motor Vehicle in AZ covers motorcycles.

start the process and copy BRP and your dealer.
Your dealer as BRP s agent has skin in this game.
Documentation is key and the longer you wait could count against you should you go to claims later on . Hopefully not and BRP and your dealer will abide by the AZ statute which is pretty broad.

Note 2C below..Taken from the Arizona statute.

Northramp:doorag:

44-1264. Reasonable number of attempts to conform motor vehicle to express warranty; presumption

A. It is presumed that a reasonable number of attempts have been undertaken to conform a motor vehicle to the applicable express warranties if either:
1. The same nonconformity has been subject to repair four or more times by the manufacturer or its agents or authorized dealers during the shorter of the express warranty term or the period of two years or twenty-four thousand miles following the date of original delivery of the motor vehicle to the consumer, whichever is earlier, but the nonconformity continues to exist.
2. The motor vehicle is out of service by reason of repair for a cumulative total of thirty or more calendar days during the shorter of the express warranty term or the two year period or twenty-four thousand miles, whichever is earlier.
B. The term of an express warranty, the two year period and the thirty day period are extended by any period of time during which repair services are not available to the consumer because of any war, invasion, strike, fire, flood or other natural disaster.
C. The presumption prescribed in this section does not apply against a manufacturer unless the manufacturer has received prior direct written notification from or on behalf of the consumer of the alleged defect and has had an opportunity to cure the alleged defect.

Yeah...but do they have limp mode:rolleyes:

They've got Parade mode. When you're idling and the engine gets hot it will shut down the rear cylinder. I had this flash on my 06 Eglide and I absolutely hated it when it would kick in. Every time I would get back on the throttle it would stall it.

A little custom tuning could have cured that....

Yeah I actually think it was the tuning I had done that caused the problem. I've never heard of anyone else having that problem and when I asked about it during a service they told me they'd never heard that either. But the only time it ever went into that mode was when I was sitting in traffic during bikeweek so I didn't worry too much about it. I have to admit though that it sure felt weird to be firing on 1 cylinder.

So far, the Can-Am PINTO has the same error codes. They are working in conjunction with the another "Ride Now" shop with mechs that have more experience than the shop I am at. Kind of a conference call/trouble shooting effort.:chat: They haven't had much luck with BRP who were suppose to join the call...they just aren't returning calls I guess.:hun: An ignition key reprogramming tool has arrived and they believe old data on the keys part of the problem...one of the keys is not working at all.
