Strange Intercom Problem

Headed out for a ride and noticed a problem with the factory intercom system.

• The passenger could not hear me, but I could hear her.

• I could hear my own voice when engaging the PTT or VOX.

• The passenger could hear the radio, but not her own voice when PTT was engaged.

So … no rider voice to passenger and no passenger voice to own earset.

I switched headset cords, and rider - passenger helmets, but no difference.

It operated just fine on the last ride.

Any thoughts ?

Intercom....

I have a 2011 rt limited with just over 17000 miles and I had what sounds like the same issue(s). Took it to the dealer and, under warranty, they replaced the radio. Only problem was, the new module doesn't have the weather radio like the old one.

Thanks ... looks like that will be my next stop as I've run out of things to check.

Yep ... it's the CB/Communications module.

By good fortune, my dealer had a used Spyder with the CB/Comm. He popped the unit out of that and temporarily connected it to mine and ... shazam ... it worked just fine.

Another bit of good luck ... I had the CB/Comm installed prior to taking delivery of the Spyder. Thus, it falls under the Spyder's warranty rather than the 90 day accessory warranty.

So, the replacement CB/Comm module will be covered under warranty and should arrive in a few days.
