Rode the Spyder today up to a picnic event on Lake Lanier at Old Federal Park. On the way, I saw a sign about a Pure station that sell 90 octane real gas. So, on the way back home I fill up with 4 gallons. And it was only $3.89 a gallon. This was in Flowery Branch, GA. One of the stations on the gas list website someone else has posted here.

I will see what kind of mileage I get with this tank of gas and report back?

bought some on a trip to the ozarks in ar couldnt really tell any difference and since it was over >.50 per gallon higher. you get the point

No way you can come up a reliable figure with only 4 gal, And it's also mixed with the 2 gal of gas already in the tank. :dontknow:

I've tried 5-6 consecutive tanks of 87 octane Pure gas. It was only .14 more than regular 87 with 10% ethanol but I couldn't tell a difference. I couldn't justify paying more for Pure gas.

Tricky stations

Some gas stations will say Pure Gas No Ethanol, but if you ask inside you will find out that only the premium is Ethanol free.

I fill up with 87 ethanol free and immediately get 10% better mileage. Not just in the Spyder, but all our cars and bikes read 10% better mileage when we use the Pure Gas.

Funny, the only choice they had was the 90 octane. The station was on the Pure-Gas.org's website list for GA.
Yea, I hated that I still had some of the premium gas from QuickTrip still in the tank. I had also added a bit of that SeaFoam stuff before I put in the gas. I'll see how it goes?

Yeah the station I used for those times only has 87 octane. They have 87 with 10% ethanol and 87 pure gas. I used it for my truck as well and I couldn't tell any difference at all.

so what I am gathering is that yall only use regular (87) fuel and not premium?

I use premium pure gas when i can get it and can tell you that my Spyder seems to catch more flies with it, thats a good thing.

RS and RT fuel requirement is different.

Looks the same to me. The RS does not give a recommendation from what I can tell.

RS use regular 87 octane (reason 10.8 to 1 compression ratio)
RT may use regular 87 octane but premium 91 octane recommended (reason 12.2 to 1 compression ratio)

I've been using premium up until that fill up. It's 93 octane here in GA. When I was out for the BRP event, there were more choices.

The octane rating of gas is dependent on the amount of resistance to "Knocking" or pinging when the engine is under a large load, like pulling a trailer and a hefty rider and spouse. On the RS the engine is tune for speed and acceleration, hence the need for premium is reduced, which has more anti knock additives. On the RT the engine is tuned for hauling power and tune this way to reduce knocking under load. The use of premium is also of help. You can use either if you engine does not knock but it would be better for both RS and RT to use premium. After all you paid between $18 to 30k for these machines why be cheap now and burn them up
