There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. STL 2014- how much to expect for trade or better sell it

I have STL 2014, congiac color. Added only Baja Ron bar.
has 5000 miles. Is better to trade it when I buy F3 or have it for sale by myself???
Ideas???

People generally make more money when they sell something themselves versus trading in but you have to decide if you want to go through selling it yourself. It can be a pain in the rear handling the inquiries and everything involved in selling something. My dealer typically does not take trade ins but will take things on consignment. That might be something for you to look into, that way they handle the customers and paperwork and you know up front what it will cost you.

Good luck.

Great idea

Good to know about "consignment". 2 dealers are willing to trade in, but sure I'll lose thousands. My husband trade his BMW bike, and lost more than 40% after a year of use.
will see. Thanks

Little checking..!!

Kelley Blue Book and NADA are good starting places. They will give you all three prices according to your area. Ebay Craigs List can also shed some light. But you will always get the better price selling it yourself...

TRADE-INS

If you are even considering doing it ( I don't recommend it )........Do not mention trade untill you have a firm deal on the new Spyder........Then find out what your Trade is really worth........otherwise there is way too much for them to play with and confuse you with...........And when you bring in a Trade the salesperson now has TWO vehicles to sell one to you and one to someone else, and they really don't want to do this...............When I purchased my 2014 RT SE ( basic ) in May , I paid $ 4,000 under M.S.R.P.....This was cash , no trade ...........................Good Luck,,,, Mike:thumbup:

Souzan, there are pros and cons to both. If you trade it in, most dealers will not give you close to what they will sell it for. They are in business to make money, and want a decent profit on the dollars they invest in your Spyder . . . and they have no way to know how long it will sit, waiting for a buyer.

If you sell it yourself, a stranger is going to want to take it for a ride . . . will they come back with it, or are they a thief to whom you will give your keys?

I like SpyderAnn01's consignment idea . . . that would be worth discussion with your dealer . . . it would cost them no cash outlay for the Spyder, and when it sold, they would still make some money on it.

I'm looking forward to seeing your F3. Hope to see you at the Motorcycle Show in DC on Saturday! :ohyea:

I'll lose but tax savings

Just like trading anything in, you lose, unless you make enough in tax savings.

the first offer for trade, I'll lose $7000+ but will pay the difference between the Tax for old and new bike.
waiting for another offer from where I bought the first bike. thanks

I was searching for that all morning.
You made my day.

I emailed the dealer asking for his offer with no trade. will see.

for the consignment:
my husband think it will be costly/too much to buy a new one, and keep this one I have (consignment or sell by myself knowing when it will sell).
I'm thinking about posting/circulate with my spyder club, Girls on Spyder, Spyder lover and look for buyers. what do you think????
Around what time you will be at the show Saturday??
I'll put a sign with "Only Egyptian on Spyder":ohyea::ohyea:

There are a lot of pitfalls on the trade off thing. Ann is right on.

Dealer expects to make a $1000 or more profit on the trade, so you are going to get lowball. The "real" price you are getting may never be determined--taking into account as to how much "play" is in the price of the F3.

Do your best, get the best deal that you can muster, make the trade and don't look back. Further looking after the deal is done, can result in buyers remorse. There is always a "better" deal to be found--after the fact. :yikes:

If you are going to finance, do your due diligence by checking with lenders other than the dealership. Usually, you can save a couple % points. Dealers reserve: Dealers sometimes quote you a couple % points higher than the lender is actually charging. You pay the full % and the dealer pockets the difference from the bank (dealers reserve). This is one of the "games" that is used when playing "Let's make a deal" game.
